people are trying to replace sex with gender because sex is an old word thats harder to fuck with because of its concrete definition

if you see gender used in science outside of social or political science then its bullshit

the only thing gender means to me that makes sense is for it to mean social and psychological sexual characteristics

so to reiterate my thoughts, sex defines biological differences of a species that store the method of reproducing a new lifeform of their species into 2 or more entities. this covers everything that empericly we can catagorize about them which are internally consistant. this means most physical traits and some psychological traits. gender has NO reason to define this, as theres no reason to have 2 words that mean the same thing. if you were to give gender a different definition scientificly, in my opinion it would need to define the social and psychological differences between individuals of different sexs

not to mention sex is only an english word, in other languages the act of having sex is a different word

i dont think the chinese call the act of reproduction sex

consitering they have no latin roots

so not most languages

really i think only spanish has a word close to sex

italians use sesso

well french use sexe

even then though latin languages are also the most common languages to have a word with multiple definitions

and have those words transfer from verb to noun

also boats have genders apparently

but not sex

i think most languages do grenade

which is why "they use gender insted of sex because sex can also be a verb" is a weak argument

its also not how science works

perhaps you shouldent have been arguing that gender is a scientific word earlier then

because the verb for sex in science is reproduction

or compitulation

or insemination

then i can easly say it doesent exist

its not useful to me to have gender and sex mean the same thing because you will have people argue that gender means whatever they want it to mean while sex will never be touched, sex will simply be replaced and ultimately youll lose the argument in the long run

i rather maintain concrete, historicaly fortuitious language which i can argue my points with

if gender becomes volatile and not useful it will be because people are using it for that purpose

meaning its not useless

they will change it against your will if you let them

which is why i think its best just to just give gender a better definition or no definition at all

i havent called any arbitrary disstinction gender, at first i started with gender not existing, then i moved forward with the idea that if you want gender to exist then gender must define something different than sex because things without sex have gender, if you created a definition that made sense in that context for gender then gender would be social and psychological sexual characteristics

its a piss poor definition for sex if it doesent actually work as a definition for sex
