I enjoy the connections I have through facebook. I dislike the lack of privacy though. I've debated leaving for years, but haven't due to what I've been missing

I almost want to start a new with severe limitations...but I'm not sure people will accept with the mass amount of fake accounts now

I have friends around the country/globe. I don't often talk directly to them, but occasionally get to meet up with them because I am near them or they are near me...and we typically know because of Facebook

and it's not always about where we live. It's more about where we are at that point in time.

Joe Rogan talks a lot about people being over prescribed for ADD/ADHD

I'm curious if that's one of the reasons why so many people over react to things these days. I currently take modafinil and do well with it, but in the past I was prescribed adderral (and before that ritalin). It helped me focus, but drastically affected my anxiety. Stuff I in the past was annoyed by/slightly anxious about...became HUGE problems

I've never enjoyed heights...but while I was on adderall it got to the point where even driving over bridges was difficult. I knew it was insane...but I couldn't control it. It took me a while to figure out what the problem might be and when I brought it up to my doctor...they were ready to prescribe me anti-anxiety meds to counter-act the anxiety I was feeling

Instead of focusing on the core problem

I recommended switching to modafinil instead and after ~3 weeks of being off adderall...I was back to my old self and could enjoy driving over bridges and only being slightly apprehensive with heights vs the extreme fear I was experiencing while on it

I believe there have been studies that show that is accurate. However, I haven't looked into it myself. I will say that people learn differently and treating everyone the same is an issue

I'm also not suggesting that ADD/ADHD isn't a thing

I'm just saying that it seems to be something that is assigned to more people now than in the past and the drugs that help people with those symptons have a TON of side affects that only seem to be treated by taking more drugs

I think it can be brought up in conversation...but in some cases...unless it is brought up in a certain way...the people you are talking to will only hear the talking points they hear on X show

"mainstream" news has a way of making extreme views seem less extreme to people that don't spend time online/research things for themselves

Back to my main point though...I'm curious whether that is having a huge affect on how people are reacting to stuff. Media plays up the fear aspect. Fox plays up the fear for illegal immigrants/socialism/etc, and left wing media plays up the stream of buzzwords (and tagging all conservatives/dissenters with them)

meanwhile the majority of people under a center age are hopped up on drugs that keep them "focused" but anxious for reasons they don't fully understand

My understanding is that locations exist for immigrants can request asylum.

The bigger issue is that the left considers "illegal aliens/immigrants" hate speech

So the people following the rules and the people breaking them are lumped together

I do think that the system may need to be modified...but I'd have to understand the system better

I've just heard it can take years to go through the process and I don't think the average American could pass the tests they need to take

The problem is that the average American won't see these problems if they only get the news from TV/paper/Facebook/Twitter

The majority of people will not see the problem until it is too late because social media keeps them in a bubble, and they watch the same news stations that continually only show them part of the picture

I said this last night...but I honestly think a reason they are able to so effectively use fear is because everyone is on drugs for add/adhd/etc. I was on Adderall for a while and didn't initially realize it was causing such a huge problem. But I was becoming more and more anxious about things that in the past were only mild irritants, and actually fearful of certain things

The biggest thing I continually see while watching videos of various protests, on people like NuanceBro's channel, is that the people there are often there because they want "something" (usually the talking points from whatever party) to be done, but when pressed on how to accomplish it when it would cause problems for X,Y,Z...the people usually come back with saying thats a problem for politicians to figure out... they're just out there to get SOMETHING down
