those fields have given me a lot of insight into various aspects of my own life
@BlueAndBlack I'm really bad around people, my therapist things I'm an aspie and she's probably right
I'd probably be technically proficient at the job once I got my bearings but as far as interpersonal interactions go, I'd fail horribly
I've failed so many interviews because I'm just so bad at verbal communication I've started to give up
I've exceeded the diagnostic threshold for an ASD diagnosis on the RAADS-R by 60-70 points
linguistics isn't the problem, it's anxiety and not having the energy to fake all non-verbal aspects of communication
my last job I ended up burning myself out to the point of being barely functional
mine just end up projecting all their own insecurities on to me lol
when you're quiet you become like a mirror that others project their own neuroses onto
so to chill people I'm chill, to arrogant people I'm arrogant, etc
at this point crunchyroll might as well be driving piracy
Darkness best girl (Konosuba)
that scene where she describes everything she wants in a man is ๐๐ป
I'm like, "hey wait that's me"
Then I'm like, "wait that's everything women don't want"
nah I don't mind
nice
I like Konosuba because it knows exactly who its audience is
I like'd SAO's premise ~~and I didn't hate the execution~~
Overlord did it better though
I have the first 4 volumes on my kindle, I need to get around to that
isn't the legal drinking age in Japan lower
20 years old
there's so many anime I need to get through but I feel like something has just been pulling me down, big sad maybe
is that even possible anymore lol
I mean, weren't some of the episodes of DB actually lost
or am I mistaken
@yearspastmatter downloading it now
~~wouldn't know, I don't go outside~~
why let them ruin another planet
Just let them stay here and rot like they did in Asimov's novels
@Graylan | gray00 forgive me I'm retarded
I think the problem (in the US, at least) with the American school system is that it tries to systematize a largely organic process (learning) and selects for managerial personalities to serve in administrative roles. I used to think that the issue with American public schooling was a lack of standardization, but now I'm inclined to think it's an excess of it.
Yeah, I don't think I used anything earnestly after 8th grade or so
In fact I wanted to drop out in my senior year, I ended up not doing so but man. Seven years later and I still think I should have dropped out after middle school.
I think one of the most dangerous effects of schooling is the checklist mentality it creates in people
@Graylan | gray00 What did you say about jobs?
I've only been here a couple of days
24 also
unfortunately yes
The general sense I'm getting is that the employment statistics are inflated because more people are dropping out of the labor market due to disenfranchisement
How wrong am I?
I'll check it out
I think it's silly to think that tech jobs are some sort of panacea
Most people just don't have the intellect to work those jobs
I don't think it's so much a class divide as an intelligence divide
@Graylan | gray00 I will review these
@Order of Serila Many have made that observation, we're currently stuck in a bottleneck of sorts. I think it's because we've obsoleted the primary drivers (war and sex) and found nothing to replace them.
I think a way we can overcome the civilizational bottleneck is by exploiting women's vanity
It's not *the* way, but just one way
When I say exploiting women's vanity I mean selling them on the idea of technologies that promise to enhance their beauty. It's not at all dissimilar to something Edward Bernays did in the 20th century in selling women on cigarettes. Women make up the majority of consumer spending (either spending their own and / or their husbands money) and the revenue generated by that can be put into private research in other fields.
I think machine learning is like an accelerant aiding in the construction of ideological echo chambers
It's not so much mute as the other guy never sees your stuff because an algorithm determined he wouldn't be interested in it
oi you got a loicense for that smugness?
I feel like we never will
It might take 30-60 years before we have a political body that's aware enough to enforce a breakup of Google, but then what politician will have an incentive to do so?
In what context does gunning down kids make sense other than Mogadishu
Bin Laden we need you
Yeah I'm generally pro-abortion because the social impact of an underclass of unwanted children is more threatening than the idea of killing something that we're pretty sure wasn't even consciously aware of its own existence yet
and growing up in the ghetto I've seen the long term harm that unwanted children do to a society
you're just filling up prisons
@Dr.Wol Yeah I look back on my childhood and I get the sense my mom only really took care out of me out of an overwhelming sense of guilt and shame. I say that because during any sort of turmoil she'd go from being my mom to a complete stranger. I've had the cops called on me at least 3 times by her during an argument. That's just the way black families are today
If my mom aborted me I wouldn't be here to regret it
and she'd probably be happier
~~tell that to black whamen~~
Trump 2020, probably
@Dr.Wol I can say that about my mom, both her parents were working it seemed so she was the oldest of 4 children... Children raising children, lol.
that's one helluva way to get around employment discrimination if true
that girl's thousand yard stare
*#LoveIsLove*
the smugness
ngl tho I like how he actually smiles with his eyes, seems genuine
nearly every politician smiling looks like a psychopath
pakistan
how do you forget that fabulousness
I think the moral panic surrounding pedophilia is worse than pedophilia itself. That isn't to discount child sex trafficking, but I just consider that a part of a larger human trafficking problem
I know a guy whose life is essentially ruined because he possessed child pornography. He never touched any kids, he just had files on a hard drive and that was enough to end him. Now he can't work a regular job or even go near a public place or school.
I think it's stupid when we have people out there actually fucking children and they end up getting ignored in lieu of some random pervert who clicked a link in a web browser
@dobatag I could make that argument about anything though. Think about ISIS execution videos. Supply and demand. They produce them because people will watch them to an emotional effect. Should the people watching them be tried as terrorists?
I mean, that's the logical conclusion of that reasoning
That individuals who view a crime are as guilty as those who commit it
Nah the point of ISIS execution videos is to shock people in the soldier's home country into petitioning against the war
Another way to look at this: Where has attacking the demand side of anything actually removed the supply?
Prohibition, war on drugs, anti-piracy, these have all failed tremendously and created underground markets
^
I think we should be going after the actual child abusers, not people who view the crime
No, you go after the supply because by going after the demand you create evolutionary pressure to develop more sophisticated means of distributing whatever you're trying to stop.
there's nothing wrong with that, but this is a dangerous slope to go down because you're setting the precedent that viewing a crime is enough to be guilty of one
and since society's standards of what is acceptable is constantly shifting, abuse is inevitable
You're basically saying gunning down a school of children isn't as bad as watching it happen
@momoneymoproblems nope, they aren't which is my point
when you apply this logic to any other crime it seems ridiculous
but we become irrational and act in a morally induced panic when it comes to children
I'm not ignoring the children part, I'm saying that the myopia of being focused solely on the children does more harm
No, we catch people jacking it to CP in their mom's basement while the real pedos in our government run civilization into the ground
Focus on the pedos that are actually fucking kids if you want to fix the problem, otherwise you're just creating more sophisticated pedophiles
@โงใขใทใฅใใณโง Yeah, people get far too emotional over these things
this is what I mean when I say the moral panic is more dangeorus
There's an episode of Star Trek TNG called The Drumhead that deals with moral panics pretty well
