Sorry, jumping in here, they actually employed a lot of visual artists
Which wasn't really necessary imo
Not to mention that the above-market wages forced by the government caused a bunch of people to become unemployed as well
So parts of the New Deal hurt the people who really needed it
Whoops my bad
*plus that debt-to-GDP ratio tho*
I'm pretty sure WWII did raise the standard of living in the Sunbelt area because most of the new military bases were established in that area
Well, higher average wages in the area and a lower unemployment rate
*yeah i'm bad at terminology*
What is the material standard of living? ๐
Yup, nevermind lol
I don't know nearly enough about material standard of living to argue it
Ahhh okay so in that case it would actually mean that a lot of the material standard of living fell because of the heavy rationing during WWII
Guess you learn something new every day
It's been an interesting few days because like, Thursday, I was a hardcore liberal
Then I actually met conservatives for the first time in my life
No I am talking about economics
I'm leaning towards more fiscal conservative now tbh
It just makes more sense with the data
But I don't know enough about the subject to declare one way or another
Okay see this I actually have strong opinions on because I really hate too much government interference in the free market
It has rarely worked in favor of the people
I know nothing about that
I haven't done much research on that
But logically it seems like it would prevent government manipulation
Which could lessen the chances of inflation
Idk
I've rarely heard economic discussions over anything but taxes
I've already started doing some of my own research
so if I look up a bunch of facts about Melania can I pretend to be Trump
great
My name is Donald Trump
I'm president of the United States
I like hamburgers
I will get funding for my wall or I will s h u t down this government
maybe it would help, I just feel like that same money could benefit border control in other ways that could be more beneficial to the economy/more effective
bet the same person gets mad if you assume someone's gender
"only women are allowed to have an opinion because only women have uteruses" "not all women are biologically women"
ok so what is the truth
ah yes, everyone knows its not literally a baby that can exist outside the womb at 22 weeks
no lets legalize abortion till 9 months, seems like a solid idea ๐
feminism has such an ugly connotation that i just stick with egalitarianism
this girl apologized for her race to me the other day
i've never been so shocked in my life
that's the reason the body positivity movement got co-opted
used to be for people who actually needed/deserved it
I agree with that, I just think that some of the stuff that feminism pushes for is absolutely ridiculous
I think plan b is a good thing
Probably
INF treaty was broken
Dang
Oh yeah wasn't Maduro saying that Guaido's plan for humanitarian aid was actually a coup
Probably was a test to see if they'd allow stuff into the country under the guise of "aid" tbh
daily wire isn't exactly a channel but i like it anyway
already a classic
if only that was true, maybe our government would, actually, function, instead of electing a socialist waitress to office
*or congresswomen would clap for people other than themselves*
the onion writers in 2012: haha this is great satire, its so outlandish so it would never happen but it still provides good commentary
reading the article in 2019: lmao our country is falling to pieces
@bearcat i'm brown, its a welcoming server
There's nothing wrong with unforced diversity imo
Remember the whole Ghostbusters debacle? That didn't do anything except annoy people
Same, I live in a liberal area and all my friends are hardcore liberals
I've never had any problems in diverse environments, but to be fair it is nice to hang out with people who have shared experiences, though it gets boring at times
"white people's things"?
Okay well I do have problems with free handouts, but calling them "white people's things" implies something different
Okay I see where you're coming from on all of that, but 1) some cities do have busing laws that bring both minority children into majority-white schools and white children into majority-minority schools, and 2) college admissions aren't a white people thing, it definitely hurts white people, but it also hurts Asian-Americans as well
I'm not arguing with you on the race-neutral aspect because I definitely have problems with diversity quotas and such, I'm just saying that if you call it "white people's things", you essentially ignore how the disenfranchising of "model minorities"
*how dare you bring up a sensible point I hadn't thought of, i need my safe space*
<:REEEEEE:475765392489578497>
I love falafels
Texas is the perfect intersection of soul food and Tex-Mex and *I love it*
*weeb*
I think I'm scarred from the number of weebs I know
My bad
I'm on my school's student diversity board and someone once informed me that eating another culture's food could be considered cultural appropriation
I screamed internally
Well yeah, same
I'm not gonna quit eating pizza or tacos
