I simply cannot believe how badly the Democrats have fucked up Iowa. With the Bernie/Hilary primary I thought most of the shit going on was corruption and vested interests wanting to make sure 'their' candidate won. But in Iowa, its so utterly inept, I'm not sure if everything I see is just pure unadulterated incompetence.
I personally think the Democrats could easily have won 2016 if it wasn't for one thing... the Democrats. During a wave of anti-establishment they chose the epitome of establishment, forced her through the primaries then tried to for her down everyones throats.
2020 - I still think they could easily win, biggest thing that stands in there way is... the Democrats. Just look at Iowa. Polling was doing very well and they decide nah, lets fuck it up
Gotta love the democrats complaining about Bloomberg, a democrat trying to buy the election. When Trump spent a fraction of his own money compared to donations
After the clusterfuck of Iowa, the early voting of Nevada had four hour queues. Is the democrat party going out of its way to show how inept it is?
I'm not a big fan of trump, but with how the democrats behave, I don't want the democrats to win. Felt the same about hilary, as a foreigner (Irish) I was dreading her as president
I'd be extremely happy with bernie though
But bernie != democrats
Say what you will about bernie in terms of his politics, but the man has integrity unlike most of the democrat establishment.
Seriously, the Democrats fuck up Iowa so totally and completely, then I read there was 4 hour queues in Nevada for early voting. Are you trying to show everyone how inept they are?
You think, oh fuck, Iowa went badly lets make sure we devote a lot of resources to Nevada so we don't look like fools again...
Any politician who has been around a while and sticks to their convictions deserves some respect, even if you disagree with their view.
I'm Irish and live in Manchester, so I don't support him, I'm not american
But id be happy if he was the next us president. In fact any US president that wants to cut military spending and stop getting involved abroad will make me happy
Man, Hilary would have been so fucking drone happy
Well the concerns you have are very different from mine, healthcare etc.
Trump despite what he said pre-election has still been far too bomb happy for my liking.
Yeah of course, I just mean the reasons I'd be happy with Bernie are not necessarily related to what you consider important
So Bernie for example, I don't think he would sell out to the big corporations and let them control the world
Yeah exactly, but I as someone not american have not been a fan of US foreign policy over the last 40 years
So the US winding down its spending to sustain foreign wars is a good thing in my mind.
Girlfriend wants me to say hello, back in 10 minutes
So I really didn't want Hilary to win because I see her as an absolute extension of the US military-industrial complex. Now I'm not a fan of a lot of Trumps policys, but him saying to put US first and stop interfering elsewhere sounded great. But you have to look at it honestly, its 3 years later and the US still is fucking around all over the middle east (and elsewhere).
I can understand you supporting the US military, but I don't understand why that requires budget increases unless you are actually spending that money in trivial wars as they are now
Like the US military is already so incredibly dominant, I don't see why more money needs to be spent unless its because you want to keep actually using your military abroad.
An example is the assassination of Soleimani. I really cannot understand why Trump wanted to do that, its not like the guy was some imminent threat to the US and the only way to stop it was to kill him. All the justifications seem to be around that he was planning more mass death in the middle east, but why should Trump care to intervene in that case?
Oh, by the way, last week I joined the democrats discord for the first time. I ended up being permanently banned after I told them that I joined several right/far right discords so I could better understand their opinion. My driving point was that calling everyone deplorables and racists didn't work last time and it won't work this time. Why not actually engage with people who disagree with you. anddddddd...... banned.
What do you lot think of Bloomberg? I (as a foreigner) know fuck all about him other than he is another billionaire trying to buy influence. How is he as a business man compared to Trump?
With Bernie smashing the dem election, is he a bigger threat (compared to the other dem candidates) vs Trump or are you happy he's looking like the likely candidate?
My question really was, is Bernie less electable than the other dem candidates? Which of them has the best chance vs Trump?
I really hate the dems, but I like Bernie so I figured he would do better than most
Bernie isn't a corrupt lying fuck
Puts him above 99% of politicans already
I like politicans even when they have totally different views to me, if those views are their own, they believe them and they aren't just corrupt cunts who will change their view on a whim
And by like, I mean like as a relative term
I like them compared to the ones I hate
For example, lot of respect for Ron Paul, but Rand Paul having continuously stated he wouldn't vote for anything that would increase the deficit without cutting costs to compensate, voted for the tax bill. Doesn't matter if it was a good bill, he knew it would increase the deficit and voted for it without demanding public spending cuts to compensate.
I didn't say that, I said I respect politicians who stand by their beliefs
For example if someone voted Hilary, you have literally no fucking clue what policies she will actually implement. She doesn't give a fuck about people
Bernie has been around forever, I have more respect if their views change over time and they justify why then changed those views. If on Tuesday he was anti-immigration and Wednesday pro-immigration then its just another hilary
If Rand Paul had over time changed his stance from "never vote for something that will increase the deficit" to "will vote for things that in the long term will reduce the deficit" then fair enough
