the claim to legitimacy of numerology is that it's a sacred language and sacred texts, they're supposed to be exposing meaning that was actually put there, designed into the language and organized by OT writers. and hebrew like chinese has a meaning to each character and builds concepts out of combining them. english isn't even like that.

and if the numbers don't matter, why use a system at all, why not change them all the time, or just write a script that pulls phrases at random?

you're not "exposing meaning" if "the numbers aren't special we are" then you're imposing a meaning, it's coming from you,- invented, not being discovered

you can *de*crypt something with a cipher only if someone actually encoded that message with it in the first place. if there's no claim that that was intended, and you could assign the key any way you want, then whatever "meaning" you pick out is just coincidence
