In Poland nobles actually had an informal alliance with Jews in order to keep Polish bourgeois class weak and politically incapable. One of the reasons why the country in 18th century was so painful to reform and reforms came far too late.

Nobles clinged to power till the very end this way.

With Republicans, my guess (I'm not from US, but i observer it) is that they know all this about demographics and their fate, but they also know what they can't talk about, so they desperately want to win over more minorities. The problem is that they can't outprogress progressives and bribing those minorities with more welfare and free stuff would be the only efficient way.

So they are kind of screwed.

Tribalism is inevitable in politics. it's just too convenient and efficient not to be used. In ethnically homogenous Poland there's a similar culture war going on.

Itwe know they are corrupt and they steal, but they are OUR guys so shhh about it.

From geopolitical PoV, America is becoming less and less able to fight multiple wars at the same time, it needs to focus and wars on behalf of Israel will probably be too costly.

From PoV of American interests the most important ally right now is Japan, not Israel.
