No time stamp on the pic of my boog gear back home, but give me a sec and I'll get one of my issued gear
@seal for cowitnessing the irons with the optic before rails were a big thing
@Cataclysmo figured I'd use the term since that's what the kids are saying these days
Only personal gear I have here with me is my T-Rex Arms Orion belt
They didn't let me bring my JPC 2.0 because it doesn't have kevlar pad, and they gave me different sized plates at RFI
Cavalry boi
Flannel because Alaska
Furfags get the rope
Once the PTSD kicks in
Iraq DFAC be giving out a hell of a lot more than one serving
No spare deployments, this is my units first deployment since 2011
Doesn't matter, got paid
It's actually a lot coolee here than in Kuwait
In an Infantry Platoon too, so I've heard all the jokes, lay 'em on me
Nope, last chick got engaged while we were dating
To a dude in the barracks next door, like I wouldn't find out
I let the dude, an Infantryman, know about it, and he reported me to his chain of command that I tried to fight him
Turns out they've been off and on since she was 15
He was kinda cute
For him
Lemme dig up a pic of my JPC
Brigade banned personal plate carriers, so I started setting this up for my personal firearms. Some Rhodesian brushstroke kydex FAL magazine pouches to put on the belt, a zip on assaulter panel to attach to the back, a hentai x-ray cumshot patch from that mystery patch sale that Badgerhound did forever ago
Turning it into a meme
Stanags because I loaned my other Pmags to a buddy to go to the range because I was on recover from CQ duty
Unfortunately not
They put out a policy letter stating we were to wear our issued IOTV's until we deployed, at which point we'd be wearing the Gen IV IOTV's from RFI
I put a Source hydration bladder in the assaulter panel and realized it looks like it's cumming across my kit
Badgerhound, iirc
Someone commissioned for like 50 to be made, but never got back or responded to them about payment and shipping, so they got sold as a mystery patch after a month or so
I've had people messaging me about "making it worth my while" to buy it off of me, but I think im going to hold on to it for a while
I need some PPS-43 magazine pouches made to put on my JPC
Hmmmm..... The South African FAL, or the BSAP Enfield for this job?
Works for me
I'll check them out
Gonna use this deployment money on a nice used car and to start an NFA trust with my dad and twin
Dad used to have guns before I was born. Then I assume mom made him get rid of them and it took until I turned 18 and bought some guns for him to get back into it
@Lapland my old team leader got moved to the Arms Room and supply, so I've got an in there
Already scored me a discount set of Peltors that weren't on any paperwork
@Lapland sheit, those go missing all the time
Too easy
One of my Privates found an ACH at NTC, so I bought it off of him
I'd hate to be the poor bastard who lost his ACH in the box
That's real
Except this one time a few winters ago when we got a new PSG from the local Cav unit
We had a Squad live fire and he was using Doc's NODS because he didn't have a set assigned to him yet
And he lost them in 4 feet of snow on the side of a mountain in the middle of the night
Nah
PSG was a good guy and took the wrap
Passed as much knowledge to us as he could before he went back to Cav Land
That unit is all ate up and I'm so glad I got assigned to an Infantry unit
My post had 9 suicides last year, 5 of which were from the Cav unit
People ask me what being Cavalry is like, and I always tell them it's just like Generation Kill
"All I wanted was just one legit recon mission"
I'm thinking about switching to National Guard so I can keep working towards that retirement, but pick my other hobbies up more often
I'm in my reenlistment window, so the Retention NCO is going to talk to me in the next few months, but I don't know yet
If there was an Air Cav unit in the National Guard, I'd jump on that
This duty station kills careers
Wainwright
Highest suicide rate in the Army
Yeah
So do I
But not quite -60 colder
Up until 2 winters ago, most of the bars were blacklisted because the snow injuns keep stabbing soldiers
One bar literally just changed its name and got unblacklisted
The local outdoor range is fucking chaos. I've seen so many people almost get ventilated there
The NFA shop just closed down, I think
But there's an older guy who goes to the range with a bunch of preban transferables and let's people shoot in exchange for brass
Real cool guy
The NFA shop would let people rent shit to try out at the range
Public outdoor 300 meter range with a smaller pistol range next to it
Alaska has its own version of Craigslist where people are allowed to sell firearms
There is an UNGODLY amount of Colt Pythons in Alaska
Because bears and shit
Nope
All the action movies coming out made them want to play hero with some real hardware
There was a dude who got divorced last winter, so he took his collection to the local vintage firearms store to sell it all off before his wife could try to take them
Got turned around on a few full autos because the shop wasn't class 3
I hope his full autos are safe and didn't get taken and sold for half price by the now ex wife
I'm gonna use that NFA trust and build my PPS-43 how she was meant to be built
Except on 9mm because 7.62ร25 Tok is expensive and shit
All I have to do is buy a 9mm barrel that will fit and look natural on it
And my Galil kit has the full auto parts and the CNC Warrior receiver has three selector notches, so I might as well drill that third pin hole
I'm from Pennsylvania
That law only applies if the items are manufactured in Alaska with the intent of never leaving the state
I'm getting my SOT as well
Having the Army pay for my gunsmithing courses snd shit
I have kits
A Galil kit and a PPS-43 kit
I'm planning on trying my hand in the AK business
Not enough companies building quality AK's
As well as other guns that are somewhat less common most places
My twin works at an LGS back home and my father has experience with CAD and similar programs
He worked for Northrup Grumman to build the Gerald R. Ford Aircraft Carrier
Designed a lot of the medical bays and some of the troop barracks bays
As well as having used his GI Bill to go to a trade school for machining
Nah fam
It's some Pagan shit but the guy fucked it up
He printed the picture and I told him I only wanted part of it
