On that we can agree.
Sure. But the root cause was lack of government oversight and lack of consumer protections.
Again. I agree that is wrong. But what I am saying. The government wasn't as involved. They basically sat a cookie jar in front of a bunch of kids and walked away. They put too much trust in the banks and let them have at it.
The government enabled this behavior but it was ultimately the fault of the banks for doing what they did.
So what do you guys think would have prevented these and other crashes? Leaving banks unregulated?
Tucker is that broken clock that right twice a day.
Also the nerf vest reminds me of this.
"Government regulation hurts the lower classes the most"
Citation needed.
Last I saw, companies were dumping all kinds of harmful shit into people's drinking water to cut corners. It was the EPA not the free market that helped cut down on that.
The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau helps people get back money they earn when they are scammed by big banks.
Back in elementary/middle school I knew this girl who could lock her fingers together/handcuffed and then take her arms from in front of her and move them over her head to behind her and vice versa.
Islam is right about women.

lmao exactly.
That's the only way people can respond to that.
Puerto Rico is a US territory. Yes Trump did send supplies and food for them but it want enough after hurricane Maria. Or was literally decimated. Most of the island did not have power for weeks. And just recently they were hit with a 4.5 earthquake and several aftershocks. I haven't heard of the Trump administration providing relief efforts of this eIther.
"stupid people do not reach the top of political parties"
Have you actually paid attention to what Trump sounds like? Like, have you read what he has said transcribed?
Again, I am not denying he didn't do *anything*
I am saying he did not do *ENOUGH* for a US territory.
PR pays taxes and gets very little in return from the US. In fact, they have been relentlessly screwed by the policies implemented by conservatives and neolibs. Their country is in massive debt we will not let them default on, nor will we allow them to become a state and absorb that debt nor will we allow them to become independent. And we could not even help them out in a serious crisis. We gave them pittance and then went "well that should be enough."
Charlote, aren't there still some rural parts of PR that still don't have power from Maria?
"you... do realize that a president does not use his own money for government shit right?"
Yet he constantly stays at his own resorts he has not divested himself from and makes government workers pay to use those facilities/services. He's funneling taxpayers money into his wallet. Literally.
That logic of "conservatives spend less" falls flat when you consider that Florida and Texas get far more relief efforts including disaster relief funds when they have hurricane much smaller than what PR had with Maria.
Yeah. Texas and Florida are majority white states. PR is a majority hespanic territory.
What is there to understand? US citizens we're dying because of the damage caused by Maria. But "that's okay cuz conservatives spend less"
So let me ask you this. You're starving. You're homeless. I give you 1 free meal. And then I don't do anything else. Should that be worthy of praise?
โข His tax cut to the rich. It has a sunset provision for the middle and lower classes. Meaning when this provision ends, taxes on the lower 90% of Americans will not only go back to levels before the tax cut, they will INCREASE overall. Not to mention, most people did not see any sort of change after that tax cut. They got a $1,000 bonus for that year if they were lucky.
โข Again, he exclusively stays at his own resorts. He has not divested himself from his own businesses. This breaks the Emoluments Clause. Government employees like secret service have to rent his facilities and services. They have to pay for this with OUR TAX DOLLARS. He is literally taking our tax dollars and funneling them into his private business that he has not divested himself from. Jimmy Carter had to sell his peanut farm because Republicans claimed it violated the Emoluments Clause and it could be a conflict of interests.
โข Even though I do not like the ACA and feel like universal healthcare is what we need, he has poked so many holes into the ACA that millions of people are now uninsured. Again.
โข Twice as many jobs have been exported under Trump's first year than Obama's yearly average. And jobs are continuing to be exported in mass.
โข He railed against NAFTA and how bad it was for the country but the USMCA is NAFTA 2.0.
โข We had to spend $28 billion in US taxpayer money to bail out farmers due to Trump's trade war with China. Which is still going on by the way. The tariffs (which only hurt the American consumer) are still in effect!
โข He assassinated the top general of a sovereign nation. Without congressional approval. That's illegal under US laws and international laws.
โข He got out of the Iran Nuclear deal. While yes, it just kicked the ball down the field and delayed them for years, it was working! The International Atomic Energy Agency, an international autonomous group comprised of 171 member states submitted Iran to randomized without warning checks of their facilities to make sure they were complying by not enriching materials past a certain point.
โข His administration is now ordering all dealings at the US/Mexico border are now classified to avoid bad PR. So if a border patrol agent kills someone we will not know because all incidents like this will be classified under "national security."
โข He is a climate change denier. 97% of scientists around the world agree that climate change is real. It is influenced by human activity. And it is a serious threat to humanity. The other 3% of scientists? We just recently found to have flawed/false studies.
โข he has declared a "national emergency" at the border so he can take money from our military budget and siphon it to his border wall project. Which will not work, and its nothing near what he promised.
โข He kisses Saudi Arabia's ass to the point where they kill a dual citizenship journalist, its found to have been ordered by the prince himself, but Trump still came to his defense. He sells them weapons to help them commit genocide in Yemen.
โข He's doing much of the same with Israel and the Gaza Strip. He named Jerusalem as the capital of Israel.
He said he was pulling our troops out of the middle east. Instead, he removes troops from our allies in Syra to protect Saudi oil and poppy fields while claiming those same troops are coming home, he escalates Iran, he sends 5,000 troops into Kuwait.
โข He has been fact-checked and found to have lied THOUSANDS of times over the last 3 years over easily verifiably false things.
You asked for a list of the negatives he's done.
I spend the last hour typing that up in a note pad. So yeah copy pasta.
He attacked US troops not civilians. He was evil, not a terrorist. And even still he was an official government leader of a foreign nation. If China bombed Mike Pence would we not consider that an act of war?
So why is it not an act of war when we did it? By several nations he was regarded as second in command.
That's their problem not ours.
Because they know what we did to the last nation that attacked us.
They didn't kill anyone fo make a stance for their people but I de-escalate with US.
So just because we can, means we should?
So you're saying state sponsored terrorism is fine if the US does it?
90% of people killed by drone strikes are civilians.
Killing military/religious leaders in the middle east is not going to "behead" anything.
Bin Laden has been read of years. Al Qaeda is still going on, and they hold more territory in Afghanistan than they ever did BEFORE ae invaded.
There were protests everywhere before the Solimani killing. After that they rallied behind The ayatollah. Soliman just defeated ISIS in Iran. The people of Iran loved him for that.
We are talking about Isis in Iran.
But yeah, Al qaeda is small. It lost its major leader, yet it's still kicking our ass in Afghanistan.
Isis lost Al Baghdadi. But they still have a strong presence in Syra and other nations.
You can't bomb an ideology out of existence.
Personally, I'd say get the fuck out and let them deal with it themselves. Why waste the money and man power to police and "liberate" people who don't want us to?
Solimani was meeting with leaders in Iraq for a piece meeting so they could face us out of their country.
Protect their oil and poppy fields.
Saudi literally funded 9/11.
And like 9 of the hijackers were from Saudi.
"Making Iran secular again" you mean like how it was before we overthrew their government?
Yeah after they overthrew our puppet.
Grandfather paradox.
Anyways. Librarian. You said the climate change 97% figure is not accurate. Please elaborate.
If 97 engineers say to not cross a bridge because it's unstable. But 3 engineers tell you it's fine. Do you cross it anyways?
Climate โ localized weather.
Though it was super bizarre when last week. We had 2 snow squalls in one day. Then 2 days later it was 68ยฐf.
People do.
But then conservatives go "ur not taken my straws!"
No. But we need to start somewhere with eliminating single use plastics.
Yeah.
I personally want to see governments investing in clean energy. Wind/solar/wave/nuclear. We need to transition our countries and make them not so dependant on fossil fuels.
I actually find more resistance from conservatives on nuclear.
Well carbon capture is only neutral. It will never be a net positive.
But I agree it is needed.
Pffft I call bull shit on that.
Last time we tried to talk you two wouldn't stop calling me a Commie fo have an actual discussion.
Even though it didn't. It said I was a libertarian socialist.
Yeah the UK is the closest to that last I heard. But I haven't looked into it in months.
Well when you consider a significant portion of humanity is on coasts. It's not *that* insignificant.
Sure. But unlike wind or solar it's a constant stream of energy. It doesn't need to be stored. It can be used fo help supplement the grid.
Hardly any waste.
And the waste it does produce loses it toxicity fairly quickly.
Later.
