We still don't know what kind of contracts devs sign with epic (they certainly seems to be personalized and depend a lot on how influential dev is), e.g. in phoenix point case they just said "so you might not like this, but tough luck, we can at least return all your money back" and then strongly emphasizing that epic deal is to make the game as polished as possible and what's the result - a half baked game with bad graphics and buggy as hell.

also I fail to see what exactly is epic getting out of it, they don't get fame, they don't really get a wider audience and their fortnite money are not infinite

so at some point they will actually need to compete with gog and steam

also their main appeal is "developers get more money" which is great on paper, but in reality in most non-indie cases publishers get more money, not devs
