Hi kids.

Is this legit?

I'm really desperate to get involved in 'Murrica. I think I've been here before, but I still have hope.

Anyway, mainboard leftypol pisses me off how little there seems to be capacity to organize.

Georgist.

Is that an issue?

Still less capitalist than SocDems.

I see establishing the land and its uses as a public resource as extremely radical reform - and acknowledge that it's unlikely to be readily allowed by moneyed interests who profit off of land ownership and exploitation.

I'm still interning in George, but I've read he supported publicizing any private monopolies which managed to form, too.

No, actually I'm quite new to Georgism. So this is actually an optimistic turn.

Nnnope. Very limited. I have "Origin of the Family, Private Property, and the State" but I've only touched it barely. I've been party to anarchist communes, and leading up to Georgism I saw myself as a "wannabe anarchist" - IE, I idolized that system but had no real hope of it functioning broadly and only limited hope of it functioning self-sufficiently for production. Also, the communities I was part of, though run by clever people, were full of idpol to the point of masochism.

No, but I don't register this name.

Are there multiple leftypol servers?

I don't. Leftypol sucks. It's just one of very few relatively large lefty communities where shitting on idpol and pop-sensitivity stuff is smiled upon. and the divisive identity problems in the mainstream (and even less mainstream) American 'left' are acknowledged and criticized.

I'm not really out to read theory on the servers - I *do* read stuff that piques my interest on the board, but I'm more looking here for discussion where I can participate in some form of action not necessarily related to theory. Not antifa either, just some way to physically help out.

Cool!

@Anglican I don't call it Geo-libertarianism - just Georgism. Also totes less capitalist than Socdems.

Well, in the current setup you can purchase a plot of land and leave it and wait for it to accrue value before you let someone so much as set foot on it. This artificially inflates property values and increases vacancies directly.

Under Georgism, anyone who wanted to do that would have to pay massive taxes on it, even higher if the land gave access to particular natural resources.

This would also apply to production - a company couldn't just buy land to mine and hoard whatever they were mining on the land. The value of whatever they were mining would be worked into taxes if they wanted to keep doing it.

So much for the anti-rape right!

Fukc me it's still playing sounds I turned alerts off fuck

"Although Batista supported capitalism and admired the United States, he was endorsed by the old Communist Party of Cuba, which at the time had little significance and no chance of an electoral victory.[30] This support was primarily due to Batista's labor laws and his support for labor unions, with which the Communists had close ties.[31] In fact, Communists attacked the anti-Batista opposition, saying Grau and others were "fascists" and "reactionaries."[32] During this term in office, Batista carried out major social reforms[30] and established numerous economic regulations and pro-union policies.[32]"

Whoah it's just like Revleft
