man look at that
its way better what intels reply to original was
literally unusuable
still makes one wonder
useless
Computer BRICKED
absolute trash
:D
buut in all seriousness
yes there is security issue, no it wont go away, ofc it will make your pc tad bit slower, will you regonise the speed difference ? most likely not
intel cope
<--- has ryzen
They should have used their crystal ball to make a literally perfect processor, obviously
maybe using pentium 4 era bibeline arch wasn't such a good idea
but funnily enough this just shows how flaky our hardware security in reality is
closed doors, closed processes and no oversight on what goes in the chip
You say "maybe", and you mean it, because you know literally fuckall about that tech, as do 99.999999% of the people hemming and hawing about it
To be fair, your chances of getting malware like spectre or meltdown aren't very high. Either you've got to download some dodgy shit, or browse dodgy websites without having script blocking extensions running on your browser.
browsers are patched
99% of the impact of spectre/meltdown is people running on shared hardware
IE cloud
Or have someone physically upload something to your pc via a USB stick, etc
at that point you have bigger issues that what spectre/meltdown would do
on windows you're already admin anyways by default
@Semi Truck mc Clusterfuck reality check maybe 0.2% of web users use script blocking
and even that is maybe overestimate
Except if you're running Windows 10, in which case you apparently have to be admin admin to be able to access and delete certain files
@Tervy true
fair enough
>0.2%
Make it 0.1%
0.02% *
More realistic, I agree
there is professional video editing software available on Linux
what a time to be alive
which one you mean
Davinci
ahh yes
I'm installing it but it's complaining that my GPU is too weak
wtf
I have an RX 570
there is also lightworks and blender you know :3
the video-team at my workplace heavily suggested davinci
so I wanted to try that one first
they all work with davinci and we make some fairly good productions
i suggest next one to be lightworks
but yeah davinci is good
Davinci is crashing all the time because my GPU is allegedly too weak
wtf is wrong with an RX 570
"its not professional gpu "
and knowing those fuckers "its not novidya"
yes they seem to require nvidia on Linux
but not on Windows
not to mention they officialy only support centos/rhel
Lincucks BTFO again
When will they learn
lightworks is pretty stable
my pc sounds like an airplane
but I can apply VFX on my 4k@60fps recording on the fly while playback
The UI of lightworks on the other hand is unusable
yeah the UI needs some serious learning curve (and fixing) but reportting suggestions is probly always welcome to them
i guess after that its openshot and after that .. err kdelive?
blender i dont suggest unless you have few hours to spare learning its workings
I'll reboot into windows and try davinci again so I can consider getting a new gpu if I like it
<i have been there, save yourself while you can>
tho if you reboot to windows then you have many other options too <:alithink:327930371796893698>
soo wont you lose the point ?
I really wanted to make davinci work because we have a 20 people video editing team that could answer my stupid questions on lunchtime
I'll just reboot to try it and if it's good I'll get an Nvidia card to make it work on Linux
but sure if you plan to get novidya just to use single software on linux... i guess why not
i have made more stupid decisions than that hardware wise :P
Well not only
To be fair, most nice things require CUDA
tho on linux you can just run _both_ cards at same time in your system
And since I switched to AMD, I miss those
so getting just quatro to assist amd
might be enough on optimal scenario
disclaimer: this might need tinkering but not that much as it used to need
>download davinci installer for windows
>it's a zip file
>containing a single exe
>with sub 1% compression
wtf
they wasted precious CPU cycles, both theirs and mine
:DDD
<:hms:311152554618912768>
@porco apparently its easy as installing catalyst driver normaly and then installing nvidia driver from their website with --no-opengl-files
tho nvidia kernel needs update then after every kernel update (driver installer -K option)
<:wholesomethonk:373550351082848267>
you, too, right? <:feels:252897877142011904>
heh, sister, sinister
lmao
I didn't even think of that
I was looking for a nice way to say "unspeakable"
girl handwriting is so cute
btw
in comparison to my utilitarian style writing
Post your sister's handwriting
I shared notes with the qt and got some really cutesy tier scribbles
kek, I don't have any examples now, but hers is far from cute
