the decanonization of Star Wars could have been justified if they borrowed from the old canon to rebuild the future history in a better, more uniformed structure -- but nah, they had to create the most dull, lame future possible

the sequel trilogy's galactic climate is really stupid

the new galactic republic or whatever the hell it is demilitarized itself entirely and now the First Order threatens its destruction by coming out of unknown space, so the Resistance was formed as a little private fighting force to fight them, and somehow manages to win giant victories when it does not make sense whatsoever

it is not like the original trilogy, where the rebellion was its own large, collective force made of numerous worlds and hundreds of smaller factions later fused into one -- no it is a literal rag tag group of people under Leia's authority -- this is even more true at the end of the second movie, when it has become a literal handful of people

The best thing Star Trek has done recently is a story called CALYPSO.

In the story a human soldier from the 33rd century is drifting in an alien escape pod and is recovered by the USS Discovery which at this point has apparently been abandoned in a space storm for almost a thousand years. After so long the ship's computer has gain self awareness.

Its a really good story that doesn't give you any answers about how the ship ends up there and it gets you really invested.

And its the first piece of Star Trek Discovery media that doesn't have some SJW moment other then the soldier in question being black, if you even consider that as being SJW. I hope that the main season 2 can reach this level but I doubt it as its from a different writer
