That's the issue that we're trying to get you to see
well there are, just ones that are too risky to warrant
Such as?
Enlighten me
move to LA and ask for jobs there
move to LA and find a friend to live on their couch
Are you out of your mind?
apparently yes
because I did that
>can't afford to live
"Move to LA"
^
The absolute state of that statement
well I wanted to link it back to my life
could be anywhere
A u t i s m
How much money did you have to live on in going out there?
I think like $800
Did you have any savings? A job lined up? A place to stay?
I had a friend there
no job lined up
but I had incoming interviews
that was the final call
What an outrageous statement. You can't afford to live where you are, so move to one of the most expensive cities in the country and pray.
And I assume you have a degree or trade school?
I do *now*
but only just graduated in May
See this is what astounds me
I'm not gonna call you a liar, I believe every statement you've made about your life. But that's what astounds me
I'll gladly call you a liar and an autist.
๐คท okT
*okay
I'm pretty sure I AM autistic
You have been through the shit, you've been in a position of destitution, and you should understand how bad the system is and how much people have to risk like you say you did, and how fucked up that is... and yet... you don't understand it... you defend the system
so that's cool
I *do* understand how bad the system is, but I also understand the steps to get out of it
You very clearly do not.
okay sorry m8
wish I could
But you refuse to recognize that people shouldn't have to risk THAT much just to MAYBE have a shot
^
Theres acceptable risk and then theres insanity.
^
What you propose: Insanity or idiocy. I am unsure of which
@CatLoverKid do you realize that people like you who risk that much, who put that much on the line, and actually SUCCEED in life are so few and far between it's like a cup of sprinkles in an industrial vat of ice cream?
I do yeah
I recognize that I at least had somewhere to return to if I failed
even if I didn't have a plan to pay off my debt
We don't
^
We have nothing
It's strange to me, if the circumstances are THAT dire for you guys, why don't you spend all your time trying to find new solutions to fix this?
Konot and I are literally fighting for our very survival because the system fucked up.
Idk about you guys, but I kept up a regiment of applying to 3 jobs a day until I got one
And what we're trying to get you to think about is that the majority of people in the united states are just as fucked as we are, albeit with differences in situation
You don't think I am? I work 40 hours a week. Bill's take 95% of my wages.
it's not the majority my dude
I'm not saying it's only 2% of people who live like that
but it definitely isn't 51%
@CatLoverKid really? Because I can't begin to count how many people I've met who are in situations like mine. It's a nationwide issue
Don't hate the player
Nor the game
you live in a pretty impoverished place it sounds like though.
I might be wrong in that assessment
Actually I live in the richest county in my state
wait sorry, then it doesn't sound like you NEED to move far, just slightly away so you can live cheaper
And what? Move where? With what money?
do you not have friends you can room with?
I've never lived with less than 3 people in an apartment
That isn't the point, the point is that I've been put in this position because of the very system you're defending
and the very system is what allowed me to get out of there
well okay, the system didn't just hand it to me
At the risk of ending up in the gutter like me
correct
it was worth it
And you don't see a problem with that? That people in many cases have to risk THAT MUCH just to have what you have?
but I'm sure that if I didn't make it out, I might think the same as you
I would like to imagine a system where that risk didn't need to exist, but I am not convinced that such a system exists
don't get me wrong, I don't ENJOY that sort of stuff
but I don't want to throw that opportunity away for others
from my perspective, you're asking me to shoot the system that enabled me to be successful in the foot. To say
"Ya know, it might be nice to be here, but I'd like to give it all up, and give up the struggle to get here"
We're not asking you to, we're asking you to support creating a system where more people have that opportunity rather than a select few
Where people don't have to suffer just to get ahead
Where people don't have to risk everything for a slim chance at having all they wanted
I support almost all measures to ensure that people can work out of poverty, but I do not support them if they require the labor/money of others who do not consent to it
Look I love you guys
But suck it up
oof, we boutta get kicked out
Boog with me
is that an official ceasefire from admin?
You live in the US where the Constitution literally states the government reserves the right to collect taxes specifically for the purposes of promoting the general welfare of the population
Yes, but as to what the general welfare IS, is debatable.
Well for starters, people should have access to education. People should have access to healthcare.
@Hellhound6 do you want us to stop forreal? I can if you demand it
No
Well they do at the elementary and middle school level
oops, and high school
They do have access for it, but they also cannot force someone to do it
I'm a benevolent dictator and all
In the 60s, someone could go to college on $400 a semester, and there were numerous jobs that didn't require a college education. That no longer exists and it's why our country is slowly failing.
You have the illusion of freedom
