Maybe they saw the Hitler signal and say, "Oh hell, no. Not in my backyard."

2019-07-12 00:07:20 UTC

2019-07-12 00:07:25 UTC

the space jews

2019-07-12 00:07:41 UTC

@Laucivol hitler's broadcasts were the olympics tho lol

2019-07-12 00:08:03 UTC

>oh hell no, I'm not having ***exercise*** in my solar system

2019-07-12 00:08:13 UTC

I go now

2019-07-12 00:08:24 UTC

phone low battery so i may be gone for the night

2019-07-12 00:08:25 UTC

The speeches got out, too.

2019-07-12 00:08:28 UTC

true

2019-07-12 00:08:39 UTC

TBH I don't think they're even viable

2019-07-12 00:09:07 UTC

If an intial signal is.. and with sensitive enough equipment?

2019-07-12 00:09:12 UTC

octopus are aliens that stranded into our oceans and had to devolve, degenerate to survive our enviornment

2019-07-12 00:09:18 UTC

dont @ me

2019-07-12 00:09:22 UTC

the signal intensity decreases exponentially with distance

2019-07-12 00:09:39 UTC

and there's the cosmic background ~~and background from other sources~~ to contend with

2019-07-12 00:09:51 UTC

Possibility 1) We are observing electromagnetic waves, sent out by alien civilizations eons ago, and we *just happen* to be capable of observing them *precisely* in the window that they actually use electromagnetic waves for communication.

Possibility 2) Itโ€™s a naturally occurring phenomena that is continually occurring.

Iโ€™m going with 2), folks.

2019-07-12 00:10:10 UTC

I did work with satcom and LOS eq.. so got a handle on it.

2019-07-12 00:10:23 UTC

But, I tend to agree with #2.

2019-07-12 00:10:26 UTC

i just want aliens

2019-07-12 00:10:29 UTC

>fast radio bursts can be simulated by opening a microwave on earth

2019-07-12 00:10:41 UTC

>aliens are just opening their planetary microwaves

2019-07-12 00:10:46 UTC

That said, it's not conclusive # 2.

2019-07-12 00:10:50 UTC

>***BUT WAIT***

2019-07-12 00:11:05 UTC

>The EM drive is a microwave strapped to a cone

2019-07-12 00:11:10 UTC

what if all alien civilizations died trought the same event: global communism

2019-07-12 00:11:13 UTC

>aliens are using EM drives

2019-07-12 00:11:15 UTC

@Laucivol Because we are yet to explain the origins of said waves.

2019-07-12 00:11:22 UTC

were getting close to ito

2019-07-12 00:11:27 UTC

very bad

2019-07-12 00:11:35 UTC

yeh this is prolly the great filter

2019-07-12 00:11:44 UTC

โ€œOmg aliens!โ€ Is clickbait.

2019-07-12 00:11:47 UTC

Just as the nuclear age was.

2019-07-12 00:12:08 UTC

well the nuclear age didn't kill off the romans

2019-07-12 00:12:13 UTC

nah

2019-07-12 00:12:13 UTC

rampant degeneracy did

2019-07-12 00:12:22 UTC

but ye aliums

2019-07-12 00:12:39 UTC

fast radio bursts are neutron stars or some shit

2019-07-12 00:12:51 UTC

True, but the Romans weren't about to break the stars.

2019-07-12 00:12:57 UTC

are we?

2019-07-12 00:13:04 UTC

i mean doesnt proxima centauri have like 3 earth-like worlds

2019-07-12 00:13:14 UTC

Just remember: Walt Disney was a major proponent of space travel.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1ZImSTxbglI&t=6s

2019-07-12 00:13:16 UTC

Just a hair away.

2019-07-12 00:13:26 UTC

also if we did find aliens

2019-07-12 00:13:31 UTC

what would they look like

2019-07-12 00:13:38 UTC

@ebinmemes22 Arguable. I tend to put more stock in the โ€œInevitable collapse resulting from the attempt to manage an empire spanning three continents.โ€

2019-07-12 00:13:44 UTC

We'd yeet them.

2019-07-12 00:13:51 UTC

what if an insect became the dominant species on some planet

2019-07-12 00:13:57 UTC

or a fish

2019-07-12 00:14:09 UTC

Fish women.

2019-07-12 00:14:16 UTC

Insect: Starship Troopers.

2019-07-12 00:14:17 UTC

or a bird

2019-07-12 00:14:25 UTC

@robert from kinoplex hot bird women.

2019-07-12 00:14:30 UTC

yES

2019-07-12 00:14:38 UTC

Or we'd fuck them.

2019-07-12 00:14:50 UTC

Where the alien bird women at?

<:hypersmugon:544638648721604608>

2019-07-12 00:14:57 UTC

Most likely the former.

2019-07-12 00:16:26 UTC

If life, or even intelligent life, evolved on a planet in a distant star system, we would have absolutely no way of predicting what form it would take.
We donโ€™t know what natural environment it evolved out of, we donโ€™t know what predators/prey it evolved alongside. We donโ€™t even know if the predator/prey dynamic would even apply.
We donโ€™t even know if that other planet evolved life based on carbon or if it was some other element.

2019-07-12 00:16:37 UTC

Basically, if history is any lesson, it's war.

2019-07-12 00:16:49 UTC

humanoid alien concepts are the creepiest shit

2019-07-12 00:16:52 UTC

period

2019-07-12 00:17:35 UTC

Ever see the Disney show about the hypothetical of what Mars might look like?

2019-07-12 00:17:51 UTC

They theory crafted Silicon-based lifeforms.

2019-07-12 00:17:53 UTC

@Laucivol I've read War of the Worlds.

2019-07-12 00:18:01 UTC

*Really* fascinating.

2019-07-12 00:18:12 UTC

I seriously doubt that alien life would appear *anything* like us.

2019-07-12 00:18:16 UTC

Think it was from the 50-ish.

2019-07-12 00:18:29 UTC

We arenโ€™t going to meet sexy blue humanoid ladies. Sorry folks.

2019-07-12 00:18:34 UTC

@Laucivol most were.

2019-07-12 00:18:45 UTC

Maybe. @Scale_e

2019-07-12 00:19:04 UTC

@Laucivol Not gonna happen, bruh.

2019-07-12 00:19:06 UTC

Walt was able to get Verner Von Braun to talk on his show.

2019-07-12 00:19:09 UTC

So far we haven't seen shit.

2019-07-12 00:19:22 UTC

The guy was connected.

2019-07-12 00:19:55 UTC

@robert from kinoplex earth-like just means earth-sized

2019-07-12 00:19:58 UTC

We're in the realm where absolutes are absolutely useless.

2019-07-12 00:20:12 UTC

They're probably either Venusian, martian or mercurian

2019-07-12 00:20:25 UTC

I'll be honest, I'm willing life will look more like us than not.

2019-07-12 00:20:26 UTC

Very ded jej

2019-07-12 00:20:51 UTC

I for one am hoping for Futanari aliens looking for pets

2019-07-12 00:21:05 UTC

It would make everything easier if they're more like us than not, though.

2019-07-12 00:21:22 UTC

Convergent evolution is a thing.

2019-07-12 00:21:33 UTC

^

2019-07-12 00:21:37 UTC

True, as we've see on our own world.

2019-07-12 00:22:03 UTC

If we managed to evolve and become an intelligent species with our format, then it's hard to think a similar convergence would occur. The background would be drastically different, but they would still look similar to us.

2019-07-12 00:22:03 UTC

2 arms, 2 legs seems the most efficient choice

2019-07-12 00:22:11 UTC

4 legs would require bigger brain

2019-07-12 00:22:39 UTC

I can see something like an octopus gaining sentience

2019-07-12 00:22:41 UTC

I can absolutely say โ€œWe are not going to discover a race of sexually compatible, attractive blue alien women who are waiting for strong earth men to teach them our strange customs of M-F-F group sex.โ€

2019-07-12 00:22:45 UTC

Eh, our brain:body mass as I get it is fething huge.

2019-07-12 00:22:54 UTC

For example, let's say, instead of an ape-like template, these aliens developed from something similar to equine species.

2019-07-12 00:23:08 UTC

@Scale_e that's where you're wrong, kiddo

2019-07-12 00:23:20 UTC

Citation needed.

2019-07-12 00:23:20 UTC

@Little Boots go away brony

2019-07-12 00:23:41 UTC

They might have fewer digits and a drastically different face, but they'd definitely need some way to actually manipulate their environment, meaning that thumbs would still develop in-part.

2019-07-12 00:23:47 UTC

And also herbivores won't have the time to be smart

2019-07-12 00:23:48 UTC

(Unironically there are no citations. That's my point.)
