Their medical care is first rate, better than ours. When there are food shortages they are due to the blockade and not to internal policies. I don’t deny that Cuba has a lot of the problems of family existing socialism, and I am no fan of one party states with repressive policies about free-speech organization, but Cuba has done an astounding job of creating a viable alternative kind of society under extraordinarily difficult conditions with real attention to the needs of the people.
