we have ppl here supporting the minimum wage?

2018-11-27 16:10:01 UTC

hasn't that been debunked to death aleady?

2018-11-27 16:10:12 UTC

"Think about it, having no minimum wage would not incentivize hiring Americans"
Perhaps not directly, but if it costs a couple dollars less, it's less of a disincentive.

"An American still looks to progression in their wage
An illegal, would work for the same small amount forever if they could"
Completely incorrect. Illegals look to increase their wages like everyone else. They just recognize that it's going to be harder to do it above the table. But make no mistake, an illegal alien will eagerly look to make more money. And not all Americans necessarily look for raises, some want less working hours.

"It would just lead to actual Americans seeing wages fall, and it wouldn't solve the illegal workers problem"
This is correct. Though I think you're oversimplifying. Most Americans would be unaffected. This is why many minimum wage hikes appear to have negligible effect--the equilibrium price for labor already cleared the price floor.

"It was illegal immigrants working for less than minimum wage
We need to punish companies who hire illegal immigrants, and decentivize them in those feilds"
There's more to it than that. For example, you can still offshore labor. Do agree we shouldn't be encouraging companies to circumvent labor law by hiring illegal persons and they should be punished.

"But as it stands, lowering the minimum wage wont actually fix anything, and getting rid of it would just cause unnecessary civil unrest"
But raising it doesn't help either. As it stands, it might be inflating away with time, which can be the same effect without needing to go through the political process.

2018-11-27 16:10:17 UTC

I'm not for the minimum wage

2018-11-27 16:10:21 UTC

why should companies be allowed to hire illegal workers?

2018-11-27 16:10:26 UTC

But hey, dont read what I wrote

2018-11-27 16:10:30 UTC

Its fine

2018-11-27 16:10:40 UTC

@Cody I'm not talking to you =p

2018-11-27 16:10:48 UTC

WTF. I went line by line through what you wrote. @Cody

2018-11-27 16:11:19 UTC

@.B I mean...It's Codes.

2018-11-27 16:11:31 UTC

illegals workers can't be a problem if you punish companies that hire them

2018-11-27 16:11:41 UTC

it's pretty simple actually

2018-11-27 16:12:00 UTC

I was talking to belial

2018-11-27 16:12:11 UTC

I was reading your things just now pratel

2018-11-27 16:12:36 UTC

2 complaints, I never mentioned raising the minimum wage

2018-11-27 16:12:58 UTC

"Grenade, you do not see it as a crime to intentionally hire someone who can not legally work?"

i do not have a problem with someone not invading someones personal life if they are willing to work, no.

2018-11-27 16:13:00 UTC

@.B At the very least, it's a disincentive. It would cut down on economic migrants, but it wouldn't eliminate them. You'd still have people come over for welfare or unaware they'd struggle to find work.

2018-11-27 16:13:11 UTC

And I want to decentivize companies hiring illegals

2018-11-27 16:13:15 UTC

pot is illegal still, i don't report my neighbors to the police

2018-11-27 16:13:23 UTC

So we punish them for doing so

2018-11-27 16:13:26 UTC

you want to punish companies for doing things you do not like

2018-11-27 16:13:33 UTC

"for the greater good"

2018-11-27 16:13:34 UTC

Make that specific action a crime

2018-11-27 16:13:42 UTC

without identifying why they do that in the first place.

2018-11-27 16:13:47 UTC

@pratel if they are illegaly in the country, they can't apply to welfare

2018-11-27 16:14:11 UTC

but they can go to the ER for free

2018-11-27 16:14:12 UTC

CA.

2018-11-27 16:14:15 UTC

@Grenade123 no, you punish companies for doing illegal stuff

2018-11-27 16:14:20 UTC

companies have to follow the law

2018-11-27 16:14:30 UTC

and i'm saying the laws are not good.

2018-11-27 16:14:40 UTC

Why?

2018-11-27 16:14:49 UTC

and that is the wrong way going about solving the issue because its not addressing the issue.

2018-11-27 16:14:56 UTC

CA lets them in public ed, and still gives all sorts of stuff. Actually most of the cities in the border states do as well.

2018-11-27 16:15:08 UTC

you can have all the opinions you want. But the fact is people and companies have to follow the law

2018-11-27 16:15:21 UTC

Only if the law is enforced.

2018-11-27 16:15:27 UTC

you can't say "I don't agree and I will continue to do what's illegal"

2018-11-27 16:15:30 UTC

The issue is that companies are hiring illegals, minimum wage would not even be a problem if it was not for that

2018-11-27 16:15:40 UTC

@.B i'm arguing for the laws to be changed

2018-11-27 16:15:46 UTC

and to address the issue

2018-11-27 16:15:54 UTC

No, but you can have sanctuary cities that basically say that they're going to circumvent the law on their own accord.

2018-11-27 16:15:57 UTC

@Cody no, that is a symptom.

2018-11-27 16:16:02 UTC

Of?

2018-11-27 16:16:09 UTC

but the laws that are in place already fix the issue

2018-11-27 16:16:16 UTC

^

2018-11-27 16:16:17 UTC

a whole in the market that they are filling.

2018-11-27 16:16:26 UTC

they clearly don't

2018-11-27 16:16:31 UTC

illegals still get here, and they still get gired

2018-11-27 16:16:53 UTC

they won't and can't hire illegals if they are punished for it

2018-11-27 16:16:57 UTC

like it's expected by law

2018-11-27 16:17:17 UTC

it's like refusing to pay taxes

2018-11-27 16:17:24 UTC

you can advocate for it all you want

2018-11-27 16:17:29 UTC

but the IRS will be on your ass

2018-11-27 16:18:00 UTC

let me give you an example....

2018-11-27 16:18:02 UTC

Belial is right on this one, it goes unpunished so companies keep doing it

2018-11-27 16:18:13 UTC

Assuming the IRS ever finds out or that the IRS really cares to go after the company for anything besides back taxes.

2018-11-27 16:18:19 UTC

In Japan, if you are illegal, you can't have a phone number, a house, or a bank account

2018-11-27 16:18:29 UTC

Punish the employers and you will see a steady decline in illegals in the work force

2018-11-27 16:18:34 UTC

so in Japan it's impossible to work illegaly, for long, at least

2018-11-27 16:18:43 UTC

Then you can start to lower minimum wage

2018-11-27 16:18:51 UTC

citizens or companies that pay them can also get fined or arrested

2018-11-27 16:18:58 UTC

But not outright abolish it, atleast until later

2018-11-27 16:19:51 UTC

Even if minimum wage didn't exist, companies would still hire an illegal over an American

2018-11-27 16:20:02 UTC

You must punish this action

2018-11-27 16:20:46 UTC

As there is intent, I mean let's look at your reasoning @Grenade123

2018-11-27 16:21:06 UTC

I see my wife cheating, and kill the guy in rage

2018-11-27 16:21:22 UTC

I had a REASON to do so

2018-11-27 16:21:30 UTC

minimum wage isn't even related to the issue

2018-11-27 16:21:31 UTC

But it is still punishable

2018-11-27 16:21:45 UTC

Wow, me and belial agree completely

2018-11-27 16:21:50 UTC

Kinda funny actually

2018-11-27 16:22:15 UTC

I don't even get how the US lets illegals work

2018-11-27 16:22:29 UTC

the IRS has enough info to punish all the companies that do it

2018-11-27 16:22:40 UTC

Cause, people cry "FREE MARKET"

2018-11-27 16:22:59 UTC

Regulations are needed

2018-11-27 16:23:04 UTC

Atleast some

2018-11-27 16:23:05 UTC

I would cry free market too, if that meant I could not pay taxes

2018-11-27 16:23:24 UTC

Mutually agreed "we're not going to enforce this" @.B

2018-11-27 16:23:57 UTC

@Cody why are they hiring an illegal over an american

2018-11-27 16:24:03 UTC

you assume its because they are cheaper.

2018-11-27 16:24:16 UTC

For many reasons, it's cheaper for one

2018-11-27 16:24:18 UTC

but are they competing with Americans for that job, or other illegals?

2018-11-27 16:24:22 UTC

But there are many others

2018-11-27 16:24:32 UTC

in europe illegal workers are treated like it is slavery

2018-11-27 16:24:36 UTC

and it kinda is

2018-11-27 16:24:58 UTC

because the workers can even not get paid, and they have no way to complain

2018-11-27 16:25:00 UTC

if there are no Americans willing to work that job for what is required to pay in order for the company to be profitable, then all we do is force these companies under.

2018-11-27 16:25:07 UTC

Because they shouldnt be there in the first place @.B

2018-11-27 16:25:08 UTC

not many americans want to work on a farm.

2018-11-27 16:25:22 UTC

and the price they would ask would put the farm out of business

2018-11-27 16:25:37 UTC

@Sarche the problem solves itself if they can't earn a salary

2018-11-27 16:25:37 UTC

of course, in the case of farms, that just encourages automation

2018-11-27 16:25:54 UTC

@Grenade123 they're not willing to work those jobs, because those wages have been supressed, from countless waves of illegal immigrants

2018-11-27 16:26:03 UTC

have they?

2018-11-27 16:26:06 UTC

Yeah

2018-11-27 16:26:09 UTC

Yes

2018-11-27 16:26:14 UTC

or is it because farming is "beneath them"

2018-11-27 16:26:30 UTC

If you need food, you will work it

2018-11-27 16:26:31 UTC

also, those jobs are typically fighting subsidized corporate farms.

2018-11-27 16:26:37 UTC

@Grenade123 people work in literal shit as their technical profession

2018-11-27 16:26:39 UTC

which have automation
