You can try changing the solver to "fast" on the boolean modifier. The two meshes are lined up on the Z axis, right?

Tyler WA @PF-983004

both are located at 2mm on the z axis

with fast selected

Tyler CT @PF-365252

With the stencil selected, in object mode try clicking this button.

I don't think that will do anything, but that's the button that fixes some bad geometry. It will say at the bottom of the screen if it did anything

Tyler WA @PF-983004

Tyler CT @PF-365252

Then it's possible that maybe your cube is messed up. Maybe you turned it inside out when you were moving the edges around.

Tyler WA @PF-983004

figured it out

Tyler WA @PF-983004

I think

Tyler WA @PF-983004

Ok

Tyler WA @PF-983004

for some reason, it's changing the z dimension to zero

Tyler WA @PF-983004

I changed it to 2 after doing boolean and voila

Tyler CT @PF-365252

nice.

Tyler WA @PF-983004

it's strange. I have to have the cube 2mm above the stencil

Tyler WA @PF-983004

boolean

Tyler WA @PF-983004

works, but stencil is 0mm z

Tyler WA @PF-983004

wonder what's causing it to 0 the z dimension after boolean

Tyler CT @PF-365252

When you see the location of something, You're actually seeing the coordinates of the orange dot when you have that object selected in object mode. That orange dot is not always where you'd expect it to be. You can move it by: when selected in object mode and click "set origin" "origin to geometry"

Tyler WA @PF-983004

Ok. I think I got them all sorted

Tyler WA @PF-983004

if you want to look

Tyler CT @PF-365252

:( it's not slicing correctly

Tyler CT @PF-365252

It's missing a bunch of pieces which means somewhere the geometry is messed up even if it looks good in blender.

Tyler WA @PF-983004

doesn't work for you?

Tyler WA @PF-983004

weird. works in my slicer

Tyler WA @PF-983004

wait nvm

Tyler CT @PF-365252

The stencil itself does have some issues, so that could be the problem.

Tyler CT @PF-365252

Overhang faces aren't a problem so that can be ignored.

Tyler WA @PF-983004

looks like this face disappeared

Tyler CT @PF-365252

There's work-arounds, and then there's the real fix of just fixing the stencil.

Tyler CT @PF-365252

I didn't realize my stencils had so many issues lol

Tyler WA @PF-983004

well it seems to only be an issue on my end

Tyler CT @PF-365252

yeah, actually. since i can make a chunk of the stencil slice fine.

Tyler WA @PF-983004

using my stl?

Tyler CT @PF-365252

nah, that was with my stl that I made just now

Tyler WA @PF-983004

oh yea I see

Tyler WA @PF-983004

so I moved the z axis location up to 8mm

Tyler WA @PF-983004

set them all on the same plane

Tyler WA @PF-983004

and it seems to be working

Tyler WA @PF-983004

Tyler CT @PF-365252

you can always make your cubes super huge on the z axis. the excess doesn't matter.

Tyler CT @PF-365252

Nice. I think the skirt is a waste of time, though

Tyler WA @PF-983004

well, section 1 is

Tyler WA @PF-983004

section 2 is still messed up

Tyler CT @PF-365252

Is the stencil's height 100% inside the cube? I just tested what happens if your cube doesn't entirely encase the stencil on the z axis, and it produces weird results

Tyler WA @PF-983004

section 1 and 4 work perfect

Tyler WA @PF-983004

2 and 3 aren't working

Tyler CT @PF-365252

mine seems alright. you can try sending a screenshot with the section 2 cube showing and the boolean modifier off

Tyler WA @PF-983004

x face was wrong

Tyler CT @PF-365252

Yeah, i mean you just need to make sure they're overlapping. move the screen around to ensure that.

Tyler WA @PF-983004

closer, but still off

Move the outside edges way out like this.

make the height extra big too

Tyler CT @PF-365252

Did are you using the rounded numbers for the x an y positions instead of getting the exact value?

Tyler WA @PF-983004

no

Tyler WA @PF-983004

I'm using exact

Tyler WA @PF-983004

.....that actually worked

Tyler WA @PF-983004

why bother making it exact

Tyler CT @PF-365252

the advantage is that you can see how big that piece of the stencil will be by looking at the size of that cube. also, it looks neater lol. Once you get good at it, it only takes a few seconds to make them the exact size

Tyler WA @PF-983004

how do I turn off skirt/brim?

Tyler CT @PF-365252
Missing attachment: Clipboard - November 24, 2021 8:50 PM
Tyler CT @PF-365252

There's a shit ton of settings in there that allow you to modify your prints. If there's ever something special you're trying to do, chances are, cura has an option for that

Tyler WA @PF-983004

Yea that skirt is a waste of time

Tyler WA @PF-983004

well it looks like that worked

Tyler WA @PF-983004

I re-uploaded to mega

Tyler WA @PF-983004

oh nice. you already made the squares in the blend file for reject poison

Tyler CT @PF-365252

Excellent. Every one of those sliced properly in my slicer. I added those to my mega folder and my local folder of stencils. I think I know what happened. This stencil has rounded corners so when you were getting the x/y values of the edges, you needed to select a vertex that's at the left-most side of the stencil (for example)

Tyler CT @PF-365252

So to get the left edge, you needed the x value of this vertex which is exactly -150.

Tyler CT @PF-365252
Missing attachment: Clipboard - November 24, 2021 9:01 PM
Tyler WA @PF-983004

I selected the face, not the vertex

Tyler WA @PF-983004

that's probably what messed me up

Tyler CT @PF-365252

Selecting this edge will also give you the correct X value.

Tyler CT @PF-365252
Missing attachment: Clipboard - November 24, 2021 9:03 PM
Tyler CT @PF-365252

but w/e. now you know that the sizing on the outside doesn't have to be exact

Tyler WA @PF-983004

That Reject Poison one looks so good

Tyler CT @PF-365252

nice :D

Tyler CT @PF-365252

Oh I see. I never finished it lol. I just made the squares

Tyler WA @PF-983004

bdtr might be tricky

Those pieces will be loose when you print them. that's not terrible, but it's best to avoid.

purple might be a weak point on the stencil since there's not much room to weld.
