you can play what if scenario's all day. As long as you abide by the guides, you'll be just fine. That means taking infosec and opsec very seriously as well as being situationally aware. I find that there comes a point when you over analyze everything and it becomes a mental block/deterrent. Hysteria and paranoia will always do more harm than good.
