To finish the story from earlier: when I was locked out, I got my nearby friend to pick me up with the intention of driving me to Greenwich to get my keys from the mechanic. I ended up deciding to call a locksmith instead. The guy that shows up couldn't even get my door open at first. I've had my lock picked by a locksmith in the past, and it took about 3 seconds. This guy said his company doesn't do that since it's "skill-based". Isn't he supposed to be skilled? So he ended up damaging my door a bit and resorted to prying the door knob off with pliers. I paid him $140 to destroy my door knob. I rode my bike to Home Depot to get a new door knob and replaced it.
I stayed inside Monday because I was dependent on others to let me into the building. Tuesday morning, I woke up at 5:30 to take a series of trains down to Greenwich, and I drove back home. Repairs were $340. Now I have the issue with my battery, and I suspect that these mechanics are incompetent or malicious based on other stuff that happened which I won't bother getting into.
