but he is always honest about it

and the ones that really get me are his stances on affirmative action

In that particular legal case, it was about being racist against Asians. The whit element was comparatively slim. From a rhetorical point of view, it's stronger arguing on the behalf of a minority if you want to convince the left that they are wrong.

The people filing suit were mostly Asian groups.
