Also, there are battles you pick and battles you fight.
The Supreme court is far too powerful and so it is always worth fighting over. This is why the Democrats are being so loud about it all. They want to make enough noise *somehow* to delay until they can put the Senate in play and then delay until they replace Trump.
ya i get the arguements you all are making.
really dont need the lecture to see your side of it. the facts about it having been tried are enough
Ok.
i get where you all are comming from
you dont want to believe i do
but i do
Nah, I get you.
I tend to focus on strategy.
Atkins was being just "no compromises"
thats what i was doing
I wanted to point out the fact that it'd been tried and what the strategy was.
tying to think of something to do that hasnt been done to get us past all this
But if you got it, I'll let it go.
if its been done, np'
If Feinstein won't even allow this Dem operative accuser to testify to the Senate Judiciary Committee then this latest dustup won't even amount to a delay.
agreed
Word is that Flake, Murkowski and Collins are voting to delay though.
Might already be delayed.
can get him past confirmed
but no one will ever be right with anything he says
They did this same thing with Justice Thomas.
it will always be a fight because of this
ya i know
And Thomas got confirmed.
look how that turned out
He's still around and has a great deal of influence.
Really, the question is why the black community doesn't recognize him more.
Honestly, I bridging the divide think it could start with something crazy: Like Obama endorsing some Trump employees for academic jobs.
As I said the delay tactic will fall apart if there's no attempt to schedule testimony from that Dem operative accuser.
I don't think Trump is going to really do anything as president that will bridge any divides. Too much is at stake.
Another thing is if the Kochs fund a democrat (as they are doing now)
But those are relatively low-impact motions.
I actually call out Obama alot on this.
He does a good job talking about "talking with one's enemies' but he never really backs it up.
The left puts way too much energy into creating and sustaining the divides you're referring to for Trump to bridge them instantly.
Obama in particular could do alot to put this all down. He's still widely respected and has made noises like he thinks things should calm down.
Ruth Bader Ginsberg has said she hasn't like the confirmation proceedings.
Obama is a joke.
