Mexico actually pushes the "reconquesta" in it's schools. I don't know if they'd actually act on it. But it does play nicely for those who want land money and power.

It would require more people though. Everyone plays the "White on Mexican" story. But if there was a serious reconquesta it would be "La Raza versus Everyone Else" I highly doubt that many people in the southwest (including many Hispanics and Latinos) would actually be keen on Separating to join Mexico.
