broke half of our company's entry models
every single one needs/ed to be manually bios flashed because they didn't support os flash and didn't have flashback
and I was the one to find out it was the microcode fucking us
the 'problem' was what we termed as 'greenscreening'
pc would lock up, green pixels everywhere
mostly because people with these pc's were playing fortnite
OSRI, full pc reseating, part/full rma, you name it
wew
In my case, I was like... well why
and some were mentioning that problems weren't occuring on earlier windows
I wouldnt be surprised if that was the case
win10 has had a few turbofucked updates
I mean, like I said
micro code in a windows update
specifically one in july
so obviously going before 1803 (I think we're pushing to 1809 now) would resolve it, because the update was in 1803
I also found that a lot of ryzen chips don't like more than 2400mhz ram
so flashed bios, uc'd ram to 2400 (from 2666)
super stable pc
athlons don't like it
also, ryzens work better with slower ram with lower cas
the ram is slower, but it can move info faster in and out
good for more cores that ryzen usually has
I don't own a Ryzen i'm waiting for Zen+ but /r/amd most people were saying the faster ram you had the better your benchmarks but the first gen ram speed was capped just shy of 3000mhz but that they finally had ram somewhere around 3600mhz functioning with Ryzen. I'm still rockin a 3930k with 32gb 2400mhz ddr3 with no intentions of upgrading till someone successfully sues the ram manufacturers for price gouging on ddr4 lol
Really hoping Zen+ can hit 4.5ghz+
benchmarks are cute
That's why I use realbench at least
I'm using a 4790k personally
Whenever I have to help a potential cx build a pc and they say they are going to render or something though
I point them to ryzens
gaming? intel
Yah intel can clock a lot better.. 4.2-4.3ghz on the newer ryzens vs intel hitting 5ghz lol Thats a pretty big gap.
yeah, and getting large core count on intel is expensive
but tbh
unless you're like 1440 144hz gaming
high end ryzen with a 1080ti
will cover most else
I don't play much cs:go an bf1.. been waiting for star citizen to be released for like a decade lol
my crappy 970 gtx can handle 1440p on both those titles.. i'll probably upgrade to something decent when star citizen is finally released in like 2026 😄
