They don't but tv was claiming its impossible to be too selfish
```All acts of selfishness don't have to be done to any extreme degree though```
And too much selflessness is worse than beeing selfish as Angela M. has shown us....
I'd argue it completely depends on the context
But usually, yeah, I'd probably agree with that
It can be seen as selfish to stand up for yourself, and selfless to roll over and give way to progressive ideas
And I'm way more for the former than the latter
That is the exact context where i was trying to get someone to be more selfish
like i said, they didn't take my advice, which is a shame
too much selflessness was the reason for my mental breakdown four years ago 😅
to me I see any actions or thoughts of selfishness as extreme
I'd also argue that Angela M can be viewed in both senses. I imagine a ton of people see her actions as selfless, some see it as causing harm, and others promoting good
so judging the difference for selfish and selfless are way too blurred
But I also imagine there's a shitton of people who think she's a selfish thot and she isn't really doing any of her BS for the betterment of anyone
@AHeroQuest I have a friend going through that now. I keep telling him he has to think of himself and not others
^
At least not the benefit of anyone she actually represents, or should be representing
I had to detach myself from everyone to finally pull my soul together again @Murbay
You can argue its selfish as she wants to stay in power and thus beeing selfless about the people she should protect....
I hope your friend gets better soon. It's a horrible place to be in
Matt easton's Favorite Word: Context!
It all depends on the Context
@AHeroQuest Yeah, he'll be fine or I'll kick his ass 😀
As for Angela M, in part her hands were tied. She didn't listen to the people and she's kind of put herself in that position
If it's not the context we have to worry about, now it will be the perspective
I don't believe her hands were as tied near the beginning of this whole mess years ago
She has dug her own hole
repeatedly
Sure, some may have been situational and completely out of her control
But I'd argue more often than not she did it to herself
She didn't stand up to the EU. Had she done, the outcome may have still been the same but she would have been seen in a better light
I'm not sure I'd boil that down to her only mistake, but even if it was, it really only takes one mistake to fuck up your reputation forever.
And now she has to find the funds to fill the gap we will leave in March
what agreement will Germany pull out of?
True, she made other mistakes too but she was seen as a strong leader for the most part and was often forgiven for those mistakes
@AHeroQuest Germany has to pay the deficit the UK leave behind. Now that really will be a test for them. It's one of the many reasons we voted to leave the EU
For the most part, i like stossel.
I don't like his resistance to net neutrality
