``` I plan to flee France```
2018-11-02 23:21:43 UTC
I mean ethnically
2018-11-02 23:21:47 UTC
In no way
2018-11-02 23:22:11 UTC
I'm a white aryan to be honest
2018-11-02 23:22:34 UTC
I've heard that if you're not that no matter how much you immerse yourself in the culture and no matter how long you've lived there that you'll never really be fully accepted by much of society. Maybe that is changing with the younger generations, but I don't know.
2018-11-02 23:22:46 UTC
That you'll always be something of a novelty
2018-11-02 23:23:00 UTC
I can imagine that since Japan is ethnically "pure"
2018-11-02 23:23:45 UTC
Also there's just the extreme focus on collectivism in Japanese culture vs individualism in American.
2018-11-02 23:24:00 UTC
oh really? Didn't thought about that
2018-11-02 23:24:28 UTC
Like the whole reason every single anime character seems to be 16 years old is that those are viewed as the last years of freedom before starting your adult life and giving up everything to contribute to society.
2018-11-02 23:24:52 UTC
That's probably why Japan has such out there subcultures. Their mainstream culture is very restrictive.
2018-11-02 23:25:13 UTC
But these are just things I've heard, so take it with a grain of salt. I've never been there.
2018-11-02 23:25:18 UTC
That seems terrifying lol
2018-11-02 23:25:45 UTC
What you say is like "now join the hive and be part of it, hivemind will send you orders"
2018-11-02 23:26:01 UTC
Seems like a really cool place to visit for vacation or for a year or two, but I don't think I'd want to live there long term
2018-11-02 23:26:39 UTC
I'll make some research, I mean, the 'futuristic' aspect of japan is really appealing to me
2018-11-02 23:26:59 UTC
South Korea has that too
2018-11-02 23:27:35 UTC
I had a friend who lived in Japan
2018-11-02 23:27:55 UTC
He said everything was systematic, every person another cog in a giant machine
2018-11-02 23:28:36 UTC
Yall heard about the Wall street journal pressuring youtube into refunding money that was going to kids with cancer because they didnt like the dude doing the fundraising
2018-11-02 23:28:42 UTC
yes
2018-11-02 23:28:46 UTC
Everything had to work together, or society shamed you into suicide
2018-11-02 23:28:51 UTC
o k
2018-11-02 23:29:12 UTC
this is an exaggeration, but still true.
seems kinda terrifying too, but still, I'll make some research and also look at South Korea which is kinda same as japan with different culture
2018-11-02 23:29:51 UTC
Not really
2018-11-02 23:30:00 UTC
It's more like India than japan
2018-11-02 23:30:04 UTC
Or China
2018-11-02 23:30:14 UTC
ahhhh
2018-11-02 23:30:26 UTC
india is more like america.
Djabooty
2018-11-02 23:31:28 UTC
The difference is-
1) India is socialist, at least used to be
2) America is a melting pot, India is multicultural
3) WAY less freedom
2018-11-02 23:31:47 UTC
We don't even have freedom of speech
2018-11-02 23:31:47 UTC
america used to be a melting pot
2018-11-02 23:32:11 UTC
in Europe we don't
