next is he gonna do one on how the drug cartels took over avocado farms because it's more profitable than cocaine?

2019-02-03 23:51:22 UTC

@Ranko it says that capitalism leaves people cold in the street

2019-02-03 23:51:39 UTC

typical communist shit

2019-02-03 23:52:35 UTC

why not just do what you're supposed to do in a classroom instead of playing identity politics

2019-02-03 23:53:16 UTC

@tombmonkey that $12 avacado toast though

2019-02-03 23:53:22 UTC

I'm glad the left nuts are still raging about gamers

@Ranko more closely what it says is two lines from the self avowed commie: this is what capitalism does, it leaves people cold in the street.

2019-02-03 23:55:06 UTC

@NativeInterface they believe it's the role of the school to educate the child and shape their opinions, the times of sharpening their critical thinking skills is long gone

2019-02-03 23:55:25 UTC

blame gamers for anything

2019-02-03 23:55:30 UTC

was it ever there?

2019-02-03 23:55:35 UTC

yeah

2019-02-03 23:55:45 UTC

at some point

2019-02-03 23:56:12 UTC

when I was a kid yes. There has been a generational shift since the ones that taught me 30 years ago

2019-02-03 23:56:32 UTC

possibly two generational shifts

2019-02-03 23:56:49 UTC

i thought schooling was just a prussian idea to instill loyalty to the state.
the only critical thinking i was taught was to trust authoritarian info sources blindly and distrust the whole internet.

2019-02-03 23:58:23 UTC

i heard medieval or catholic schools or something used to at least teach the trivium and quadrivium, but i don't know if it was ever used in modern education

2019-02-04 00:00:01 UTC

because the left believes in being morally superior it makes sense for them to justify "brainwashing" (a bit strong of a word but still) through public schools, from their point of view it would be wrong not to and it's totally benevolent

2019-02-04 00:00:38 UTC

yeah as i understand it public schooling was shaped by behaviorists and pavlovian dog training fanatics

2019-02-04 00:01:30 UTC

since it's inefficient, every so often the curriculum and the reach of the schools gets extended towards that goal

2019-02-04 00:02:49 UTC

public schooling never starts with the intent of brainwashing though, it's always in the goal of making the whole of society smarter. It just inevitably gets hijacked

2019-02-04 00:03:47 UTC

i thought it was the opposite, that the foundation was brain washing, but we've been trying to unsuccessfully modify it and re-purpose it for actual learning

2019-02-04 00:03:55 UTC

no

2019-02-04 00:04:18 UTC

*shrugs*
it's the idea i get from john taylor gatto

it would be far easier to keep the masses uneducated than try to brainwash them subtly

2019-02-04 00:05:35 UTC

it's always the slippery slope of good intentions being the path to hell though

2019-02-04 00:05:42 UTC

yeah

2019-02-04 00:05:45 UTC

we humans never learn

2019-02-04 00:06:05 UTC

it's the people with good intentions that pisses me off the most
i just wish they would stop helping

2019-02-04 00:07:44 UTC

you can't play god with society
the harder you try to shape it, the bigger it blows up in your face

2019-02-04 00:08:17 UTC

it's particularly obvious with the economy
