```
“In one example of blatant intimidation, a bank terminated its relationship with a legal business after threats from the FDIC. The bank eventually surrendered to the pressure, and when the bank notified the FDIC of the decision, they admitted that a risk assessment showed the business “pose[d] no significant risk to the financial institution, including financial, reputation, and legal risk,” yet they still terminated the banking relationship.
“For years, Office of the Comptroller of the Currency officials have continually denied any wrongdoing, yet in the newly-unsealed documents we see proof of a conscious decision to work in conjunction with the FDIC against payday lenders. These lenders were specifically targeted, not based on evidence of wrongdoing, but based on personal beliefs a decision to ‘suggest strongly that [banks] re-evaluate payday lending.’”
@Cakasaur It is a Catch-22, the Democrats want to ban firearms and the Republicans want Democrats to keep trying so the firearms industry will keep filling the campaign coffers of Republicans to prevent it from happening. It's the same thing with the abortion industry, Republicans threaten it and Democrats rake in the campaign money to stop them. It's all political theater. Both parties have been in a position to do whatever they wanted but both parties understand it is just a game to make themselves money.
```
“Accordingly, in late 2010 or early 2011, the FDIC’s senior Washington officials convened a meeting of all Regional Directors. The FDIC is divided into seven regions, each of which has a Director in charge of exercising the FDIC’s supervisory authority over each bank in his or her region. At this meeting in which all of these Regional Directors (or their designees) were gathered, the Senior Deputy Director for the Division of Supervision and Consumer Protection informed them that “if an institution in their region was facilitating payday lending, the Regional Director should require the institution to submit a plan for exiting the business.

“These instructions, the Senior Deputy Director, conveyed, came from “the sixth floor”—the Chairman and senior leadership of the agency

“At the meeting, the Senior Deputy Director conveyed the following message: “if a bank was found to be involved in payday lending, someone was going to be fired.”

Welp.

2019-02-11 01:33:34 UTC

literally govt entities forcing banks and creditors to the force payment processors to thenforce financial sites like patreon or subscribe star or normal personal sites that accept money, to shut down

2019-02-11 01:33:46 UTC

How bad is credit card culture in US vs vs cash use?

2019-02-11 01:33:47 UTC

for literal unconstitutional reasons

2019-02-11 01:33:56 UTC

@Cakasaur most of usa's populace is in debt

2019-02-11 01:34:05 UTC

credit culture is pretty rough

2019-02-11 01:34:11 UTC

it's hard for a lot of people to survive without it

2019-02-11 01:34:15 UTC

As in how often is cards used vs cash

2019-02-11 01:34:21 UTC

almost always

2019-02-11 01:34:36 UTC

this bill has been stuck for a year now

2019-02-11 01:35:00 UTC

to stop shit like ppl getting deplatformed financially or get their bank accounts terminated or stop being able to receive money or etc

2019-02-11 01:35:21 UTC

seems like this is basic first amendment shit

2019-02-11 01:35:28 UTC

```
This bill specifies that a federal banking agency may not request or order a depository institution to terminate a customer account unless: (1) the agency has a valid reason for doing so, and (2) that reason is not based solely on reputation risk.
Valid reasons for terminating an account include threats to national security and involvement in terrorist financing, including state sponsorship of terrorism.
A federal banking agency requesting a termination must provide the depository institution with notification and justification.
```

2019-02-11 01:35:42 UTC

the DOJ is prosecuting them based on their speech, in essence

2019-02-11 01:36:00 UTC

which means that the law that they're applying is unlawful, or unlawful to interpret the way they are

2019-02-11 01:36:24 UTC

currently FDIC, FTC, and DOJ can tell banks, credit card processors(mastercar, visa, discover, amex, etc), paypal, stripe, square, patreon, subscribestar, etc or have one of them tell the others to deplatform/terminiate/shut down accounts

2019-02-11 01:36:32 UTC

So that's why they seriously want to link alt right with terrorism. And smear everyone with alt right

2019-02-11 01:36:35 UTC

wow

2019-02-11 01:37:18 UTC

just... wow

2019-02-11 01:37:24 UTC

and the reasons ppl get when their accounts are terminated are shit like "Promoting hate speech, promoting rape, promoting violence and promoting hatred."

2019-02-11 01:37:31 UTC

The best thing Police Officers like to do:
https://youtu.be/NEuOBFRDesA

2019-02-11 01:37:37 UTC
