tbh
it was
100%
It was once you got the 20pdr on it
VC Firefly was decent engineering
WW2 British tanks are pretty shit
Sherman with a 17pdr
Not that shit
It was desperate and it worked like ass cause of the smoke cloud it kicked up
But the gun was needed
tho they called it a Universal, not an MBT 😉
we didnt have the 76mm at the time
Matilda was slow, but still gave the German's a shit ton of trouble.
so it was a good idea
Matildas are well armoured
but holy fuck it was slow
The matilda was such a strong tank for what it was used for
I think fireflys fucked off mostly in place of Achilles, Jacksons, and M4 76 shermans.
Oh and the comet.
North africa it had massive success
UK always had an aversion to APHE rounds for some reason.
Jacksons/Achilles along with all SPG/TDs are cheaper in general to produce
it would've never fit a turret ring
I think it was when they tested it, it was an APHE round on a 2pdr , and it was trash, so they assumed all types were trash.
They fucked removed the HE filler from our rounds .
and the short term Caernarvon
Fuckin knobheads.
and I think early models of the Conqueror
32pdr was a massive AA gun so it was pretty bad to fit in anything.
Decent at AT and amazing with HE rounds
A very american gun, tbh
lul
Don't the British still use HESH rounds?
Yes. Most of us do.
Or some varient of it.
HEAT is an HE round too, if your creative enough.
Good morning my guys
RIP rifled barrel though
