I'm still not sure why the magnitude of the velocity would not constantly increase. if i use the cannonball thought experiment.
mistakes are no problem but when changing what yo said after being replied to is no ok
assume no atmosphere, the cannonballs velocity (magnitude) would constantly increase until it hits the ground
need to think about it more
But where is the ground?
it essentially keeps missing it
That is the caveat
but it's velocity is still increasing
so it should not stop
No
there is nothing to stop it
imagine the boundary condition
where you almost get all the way around
Because the acceleration never adds tangentially
it's velocity is constantly increasing
It adds perpendicular ly
but when does it change?
again imagine the limit
For velocity to increase, it would need to add tangentially
It only adds perpendicularily
but it's in constant freefall. that's why astronots supposedly float
The acceleration downwards at one point is equal and opposite to that later
doesn't matter. it's in freefall
Net change cancels
hmm
need to think about it
Wait do you get it now?
no not yet.
but let me think
will go tend to my fermentations for a bit
Yes, I even made a rough diagram with a satellite that I totally drew all by myself
@Flat Earth PhD maybe i can help, its moving in a straight line but the space time is bent
😂
actually a cup of space time sounds good right about now
Acceleration is normal to the velocity so the speed is constant
because curve are straight lines
right
you need to think 4 dimensionally
You can suffice with a Newtonian idea of gravity
