@Maple_Junky the experiment draws out a conclusion (earth circumference) out of 2 assumptions, that the earth is round and the sun is very far away. you can't prove something when the premise already assumes that it is

Sadly for the globe, it should be the visible spectrum that is "lifted up" by refraction more than the infrared.
