**Hypothesis**: earth must be made up of different layers of material, because it is observed that p and s waves are chaging velocities at the same depth when observed constantly. Since these waves are consistently changing velocities at a certain depth, there must be something that is causing this. Additionally, it has been observed that p waves are being recieved faster when recorded at larger distances, which is counter intuitive.
