Haha

2020-02-15 22:36:49 UTC

yea that's a good point

2020-02-15 22:36:55 UTC

how would it be impossible?

2020-02-15 22:37:10 UTC

you can't have gas pressure without a container

2020-02-15 22:37:13 UTC

vacuum cannot exist next to earths atmosphere without a barrier

2020-02-15 22:37:23 UTC

it is physically impossible

2020-02-15 22:37:46 UTC

Uh

2020-02-15 22:37:55 UTC

you ever seen chlorine gas?

2020-02-15 22:37:56 UTC

Gas pressure is possible without a container

2020-02-15 22:38:03 UTC

how it sinks down to the bottom of a container?

2020-02-15 22:38:10 UTC

it does that cause it's denser than air

2020-02-15 22:38:10 UTC

no it's not

2020-02-15 22:38:23 UTC

and air just so happens to be denser than a vacuum

2020-02-15 22:38:28 UTC

VACUUM and AIR cannot exist anywhere NEAR each other, unless there's a barrier

2020-02-15 22:38:32 UTC

brb

2020-02-15 22:38:45 UTC

they actually can

2020-02-15 22:38:49 UTC

you just need acceleration

2020-02-15 22:39:00 UTC

alright you convinced me

2020-02-15 22:39:11 UTC

*an accelerative force

2020-02-15 22:39:21 UTC

yea

2020-02-15 22:39:36 UTC

or if you wanna go really into it a curvature in spacetime but that's not really relevant right now

2020-02-15 22:39:43 UTC

Well depending on what definition you have of gas pressure. But a good example of gas pressure without a container is turning on your fan. That’s gas (air), pushing against your skin.

2020-02-15 22:40:04 UTC

remember the word vacuum

2020-02-15 22:40:20 UTC

We’re not talking about a vacuum

2020-02-15 22:40:35 UTC

Gas pressure without a container

2020-02-15 22:40:40 UTC

Gas can exist in a vacuum. There are no perfect vacuums.

2020-02-15 22:40:43 UTC

after a while the air from the fan will become equal in pressure to its surroundings

2020-02-15 22:40:45 UTC

oh I thought we were on about why the globe cannot exist

2020-02-15 22:41:03 UTC

How so?

2020-02-15 22:41:03 UTC

I agree with your pressure statements tho

2020-02-15 22:41:09 UTC

but as long as it's being accelerated it can have a pressure differential

2020-02-15 22:41:21 UTC

You’re talking to a group of globies, strike.

2020-02-15 22:41:25 UTC

Including the mods.

2020-02-15 22:41:47 UTC

look guys we can perhaps debate on a more simple level on global science

2020-02-15 22:42:02 UTC

my favorite topic to go deep into is vacuum but it is very complicated

2020-02-15 22:42:09 UTC

Do it

2020-02-15 22:42:30 UTC

U gonna talk about how it breaks the second law of thermodynamics?

2020-02-15 22:42:59 UTC

you ever seen train cars implode from air being sucked out of em?

2020-02-15 22:42:59 UTC

Because it doesn’t

2020-02-15 22:43:00 UTC

It does, so..

2020-02-15 22:43:11 UTC

In fact, it has nothing to do with the 2nd law of thermodynamics
