to sum it up there was an anomaly in one of the planets orbits it looked like something was pulling on that planet so we looked in the direction that that planet was being pulled and found neptune

I see the question about different planets having different speeds

Therefore if you do a lot of rlly complex math with all the masses of the planets, you would have noticed that the orbits would be different (before nepture was discovered). This pinpoints its location, and lets us find neptune with a telescope (its so far away we can't find it without knowing where it should be)
