@corsair nice story

2020-03-05 14:09:05 UTC

Genuine question (with followup). The moon in the flat earth model has been said to be close/local. Have any distance estimated been made?

2020-03-05 14:40:04 UTC

@Pit Droid 3000km

2020-03-05 14:40:13 UTC

i dont think its accurate

2020-03-05 14:40:48 UTC

but its certainly not giant rock 150 000 km away floating through nothing

2020-03-05 14:42:05 UTC

Ok. So the followup question is: why is there only an extremely small change in viewing angle of the moon when travelling in latitude (or indeed as the moon passes overhead)?

2020-03-05 14:42:06 UTC

Where does 3000km come from?

2020-03-05 14:42:25 UTC

triangulation

2020-03-05 14:42:52 UTC

yeah the weird thing is that moon and sun as well are bigger when closer to horizont

2020-03-05 14:43:12 UTC

they also have different color

2020-03-05 14:43:18 UTC

triangulation?

2020-03-05 14:43:22 UTC

Between what points?

2020-03-05 14:43:30 UTC

Not referring to size, referring why you can see the same face

2020-03-05 14:43:50 UTC

i dont know

2020-03-05 14:44:05 UTC

maybe two guys with sticks

2020-03-05 14:44:12 UTC

just like erastothenes

2020-03-05 14:44:47 UTC

and since the erastothenes story is made up fake i dont take 3000km as just a number

2020-03-05 14:45:57 UTC

I did an envelope calculation and for a flat earth model to reproduce the observations of a round earth model, the moon would need to be much higher

2020-03-05 14:46:03 UTC

in the order of 10^7 meters

2020-03-05 14:46:15 UTC

which is about 10,000km

2020-03-05 14:46:39 UTC

3000km is *about* similar

2020-03-05 14:46:45 UTC

i dont know how this plane of existence works

2020-03-05 14:47:06 UTC

all i know is that modern physics is a sham

2020-03-05 14:47:13 UTC

define modern

2020-03-05 14:47:19 UTC

the old one probably as well

2020-03-05 14:47:24 UTC

20th century

2020-03-05 14:47:34 UTC

All 20th century physics is a sham?

2020-03-05 14:47:35 UTC

maxwell seems alright

2020-03-05 14:47:37 UTC

bruh

2020-03-05 14:47:38 UTC

yes

2020-03-05 14:47:45 UTC

Maxwell seems alright?

2020-03-05 14:47:46 UTC

So there's no current explanation for why you'd see the same face?

2020-03-05 14:48:00 UTC

Maxwell's laws are what kickstarted all of 20th century physics pretty much my dude

2020-03-05 14:48:06 UTC

what face? of the moon?

2020-03-05 14:48:36 UTC

Yeah

2020-03-05 14:48:37 UTC

moon is not physical object according to most flatearthers

2020-03-05 14:48:51 UTC

yeah so 19th century physics sucks as well then

2020-03-05 14:48:56 UTC

lol

2020-03-05 14:49:06 UTC

but it's really easy to demonstrate tht the laws hold

2020-03-05 14:49:06 UTC

Not a physical object?

2020-03-05 14:49:13 UTC

no
