>> Among the treasures of Dunvegan is a green fairy flag, which some materialists believe to be only a relic of the Crusades -- a consecrated banner of the Knights Templars, but which all true Highlanders affirm to have been a gift to some ancestral MacLeod, from a fairy maiden. She promised that on three distinct occasions when he or his clan were in danger, he might wave the flag with certainty of relief.

Wait what does the flag mean?

2020-03-08 23:45:45 UTC

Trump's maternal lineage is Clan MacLeod, a clan that harbored Templars when the Christians were persecuting them

2020-03-08 23:46:03 UTC

Persecuting, purging; whatever verbiage is appropriate

2020-03-09 03:07:16 UTC

No.

2020-03-09 14:50:12 UTC

I'd need you to define strong society though.

2020-03-09 14:51:31 UTC

Yes

my general answer, i suppose, would be no.

i say 'general' because a "strong society" could be anything.

2020-03-09 15:01:17 UTC

a lot of people don't get less obvious rules that are necessary for a stable society.

2020-03-09 15:01:28 UTC

or rather it's necessary for a moral society.

2020-03-09 15:17:01 UTC

one really dosent need to define strong society

2020-03-09 15:17:08 UTC

its a pre objective concept

2020-03-09 15:17:35 UTC

theres nothing subjective about most things and concepts

2020-03-09 15:18:10 UTC

simply put a strong society is one that is efficient, one that is immovable and robust in its values

2020-03-09 15:22:34 UTC

Not really

2020-03-09 15:28:58 UTC

yeah really

2020-03-09 15:29:08 UTC

2020-03-09 16:01:09 UTC

Iq babbling?

2020-03-09 16:47:24 UTC

Its expressed religious values?

2020-03-09 16:47:27 UTC

Yes

2020-03-09 18:06:11 UTC

Short answer: Yes

Long answer:
Throughout most civilisations in history, religion has served as the necessary moral glue to hold the social fabric together. A common argument atheists tend to point out is that β€˜You can be moral without being religious’. Technically, yes you can. But there isn’t a moral force there to ensure you behave as such. When people become the gods of their own lives, they are able to redefine what is moral to them. It’s not uncommon to hear the whole β€œI believe in my truth” nonsense these days. As a result, adultery, abortion, poor parenting, wedlock births, drug use, and alcohol abuse have only continued to rise further and further. A larger slice of the population now have no real passion or drive to accomplish things that are beneficial to both their person and society more broadly. The malaise and apathy that result from this have resulted in higher rates of depression and co-morbid mental disorders, as well as a rise in suicides. So while an individual *may* be able to go on fine without religion, society tends to suffer without it.
