Learning a Germanic language from a Latin based language is one of the cringest things possible
English for example is easy to understand but learning to correctly speak it is cringe

I did Dutch at school in Belgium and it's the easiest language I've ever learned
Got to a pre good level
Could have a normal conversation with some vocabulary restrictions
Hardest for me is German
German is pure insanity
some compound words make sense if you already know Dutch but a lot of them are pure insanity and possibly cheating at scrabble
Zuid Afrikaans is supposedly easier to learn after Dutch but it just sounds like drunk Dutch to me
funny thing is that Belgium Dutch (Flemish) is more pure than Dutch Dutch.
