wtf

2020-02-27 16:13:35 UTC

that does really happen outside LA only inside like in deep LA

2020-02-27 16:13:38 UTC

one of the things that confused me about the US was how they taught Spanish in schools despite it being settled by Brits.

2020-02-27 16:13:49 UTC

is LA a literal shithole like SF?

2020-02-27 16:13:52 UTC

spanish?

2020-02-27 16:13:59 UTC

yeah the Spanish language.

2020-02-27 16:14:03 UTC

i mean it has a lot of homeless

2020-02-27 16:14:07 UTC

or I guess Mexican

2020-02-27 16:14:31 UTC

I think there were subtle difference between Spanish Spanish and Mexican Spanish.

2020-02-27 16:14:39 UTC

no i think u mean as a foreign language in highschool not as a language they speak

2020-02-27 16:15:09 UTC

it kinda surprised me that it was being taught.
Like it's not like English is uncommon

2020-02-27 16:15:55 UTC

in your highschool do they have to learn another language??

2020-02-27 16:16:05 UTC

English
some schools teach French or German

2020-02-27 16:16:26 UTC

the French and Germans refuse to learn anything else.

2020-02-27 16:16:43 UTC

I learned neither btw

2020-02-27 16:17:06 UTC

lmao well we have to learn a “foreign” language throughout highschool

2020-02-27 16:17:20 UTC

does it matter what language?

2020-02-27 16:18:06 UTC

honestly I would pick something more practical or obscure to learn like Mandrin.

2020-02-27 16:21:11 UTC

what languages are you learning?
I'm currently working on Japanese.

2020-02-27 16:31:36 UTC

they chinese, latin, spanish, and french which kinda useless i’m taking latin

2020-02-27 16:32:17 UTC

I heard good stuff about Latin.
Something about it making it easier to learn other languages after learning it.

2020-02-27 16:34:23 UTC

yes so latin is the starting or base language of about all european languages so it helps a ton

2020-02-27 16:35:02 UTC

and also i can’t speak it which makes it much easier sense all the other languages u have to speak...

2020-02-27 16:35:23 UTC

the writing system being the same aslo helps

2020-02-27 16:49:47 UTC

yea

2020-02-27 16:50:06 UTC

japanese dang that’s quite hard

2020-02-27 16:50:32 UTC

especially for somebody from latin based language

2020-02-27 16:51:19 UTC

yeah it's nothing like English or Dutch.
The sentence structure is completely different not to mention the writing systems.
At least Chinese will be easier to learn after it.

2020-02-27 16:53:31 UTC

Wasnt latin different from germanic tough?

2020-02-27 20:41:29 UTC

Learning a Germanic language from a Latin based language is one of the cringest things possible

2020-02-27 20:41:55 UTC

English for example is easy to understand but learning to correctly speak it is cringe

2020-02-27 20:51:23 UTC

I heard some stuff about Dutch being the hardest to learn

2020-02-27 21:10:55 UTC

Idk about that

2020-02-27 21:11:20 UTC

I did Dutch at school in Belgium and it's the easiest language I've ever learned

2020-02-27 21:11:25 UTC

Got to a pre good level

2020-02-27 21:11:38 UTC

Could have a normal conversation with some vocabulary restrictions

2020-02-27 21:12:56 UTC

Hardest for me is German

2020-02-27 22:46:11 UTC

German is pure insanity

2020-02-27 22:46:31 UTC

some compound words make sense if you already know Dutch but a lot of them are pure insanity and possibly cheating at scrabble

2020-02-27 22:46:47 UTC

Zuid Afrikaans is supposedly easier to learn after Dutch but it just sounds like drunk Dutch to me

2020-02-27 22:47:08 UTC

funny thing is that Belgium Dutch (Flemish) is more pure than Dutch Dutch.
