Each newly married couple has four parents to care for and potentially 8 grandparents, as well as children. That is a huge burden on a culture that has strong taboos about not honoring and caring for their own elders.

Remove the heavy burden and suddenly the economy is booming and a billions are saved in end of life care amd social programs.

I heard this story of a Chinese MMA fighter that he PRC hated because "MMA is a barbarous western martial art" and they had him fight a "martial artist" trained in Tai Chi and had the Tai Chi guy win despite the MMA guy beating his face bloody.
There is also this law that requires any piece of media release in China to conform to chinese culture.
