because you can only look at things from the perspective of what you know.
If you have much of a specific knowledge you can understand much but comprehend little. But if you have a little knowledge on a broad range of things you can understand little but comprehend much. You get the big picture view of things if you open yourself to all ideas but on the trade off you will get to understand the specifics of things to a lesser extent. You for example feverishly studies german history and therefore have much understanding of the details of it. But then do you also know the details of the other countries just as well? If not then you only have the german history perspective of everything. The perspective of things from someone who feverishly study Englands history will be diffrent from yours. So to get the big picure of everything you have to understand that your prespective of things may or may not be correct to everyone elses.
