I know that it would be very hard to get a background check on every single person
Addressing our mental health problems would work best
as well as the break down of positive masculine influence
But would background checks actually work in theory?
Or would they work overall
We already do background checks
The issue is that most people who do bad things with guns get the guns they do bad things with illegally
So they either buy it off the black market or they steal it
Mhm
And it’s almost impossible to get rid of that :/
If not impossible
There will always be a way to get guns illegally
Which is why it is better to address what causes people to be violent rather than limit law abiding people's right to defend themselves
And it boils down to a few things
Mass shooters are almost all on psycho-active drugs
and lack significant father figures
the majority of gun violence is committed with hand guns
And a large amount of it is committed by inner city blacks
Like Richmond and Chicago
because of communal problems as well as issues with family strucure
The rest is violent crime committed by similarly unfortunate people of other racial groups
gun crime*
So a lot of the violence is caused because of drug violence, mental issues, and cyclical problems within communities.
These three things need to be addressed before we think about limiting the rights of law abiding people
Its both the guns and the people
Its much easier to kill with a gun than a knife
Yes but guns are a necessity
So we will have to find a way to have guns and reduce violence
And we can do that
I agree
Addressing the issue at its core has a larger chance of improving the problem than banning guns
yes
It may not necessarily solve it drastically
But it’s worth a shot, and is obviously the best possible solution for America
In another country, banning guns may work. But it won’t work for America and that’s something I understand
Very true
Hmmm
Yo
Yo
Aaron Burr, how ya doin?
