I mean here
think of it this way
Steven crowder change my mind
People.dont show the rape scenes anymore to respect the victims
They show the aftermath of such events instead of graphically showing it
the aftermath is 100% more important
They show the victims as survivors instead of some sullied property
it's very important they focus on the effects, but american writers?
Idk, in India, I see a welcome change to abolish rape culture
Rape scenes were never about victim respect, the biggest point of rape is taking away someone's self worth and destroying their emotional life
rape is just smacked in place of any old backstory and is rarely even relevant after the fact
The context is what matters most
well no shit rape isn't about respecting victims that's the opposite of rape
Like they have started respecting the sentiments of the victims instead of making it graphic
the point is you should never show rape in a movie for no reason
simply to have rape framed as "bad thing happened! wow!"
I mean the media is anti rape culture
we're sold the idea that it's anti rape culture here
Oh
but realistically we're being shown things that desensitize us to the idea of rape
Arguably there is no rape culture but the media is such a left-wing bulwark that it cowtows incessantly to any demands of the progressive post-modernists
Like they make it a fundamental point to a person's story
Exactly
And not like just a thing that happened to them
my issue is when it's irrelevant to the character
anti rape culture? what is it, rationality or something? :v
as in, they were too lazy to write a backstory of traumatic event so they just insert rape
No, here in India they're normalising being a Survivor or sexual assault or rape
then the character is never shown struggling with the after effects, or that's literally just it
Atleast the modern media
Anyway, I've spent enough of my time and attention pondering rape and its cultural position, I feel blemished by spending my attention on something that foul
Yeah that's shitty writing
They do that for gay people too
I believe what Daniel is saying is true if theres no fundamental ground for the rape in a movie or show there’s no need for it at all does progress the story of not then not needed
that's what i mean by it being fetishistic
if it doesn't add anything to the character or the story, it shouldn't be there
Make it their whole personality which makes it feel like people are pushing the gay agenda
That applies to everything
yes absolutely
See JK Rowling
