Island of tiny hands?
It's an island paradise without the challenges attendant to an actual land mass. The native peoples are mostly friendly but suffer from angst associated with their religious beliefs. They believe that a daemon, born of an orangutan-like beast, and living as a child on the island escaped in a canoe when it was reaching puberty to seek a mate. As the story goes, the boy grew tired of building bamboo high-rises on the beach, colored his hair and face orange and announced he was too great to stay on such a small island. The people believe that the daemon made it to another island purchased from native people by Dutch beaver trappers and decided he could make that island almost as great as he was. Not having the means by which to warn the world of his evil nature, the people engage in daily exorcisms to rid the world of this evil.
