I drifted the mail truck once like a moron because I was running late on an uphill 90 degree turn
Heckin gravel
Went to look at a car from a really sketchy looking Craigslist ad last night
It was a manual 1994 Mazda Protégé DX that supposedly had only 128k miles on it, paint was fried to shit because Texas and only one pic on the ad with no information as to whether or not it runs
Asking price was $400 so we assumed it was guaranteed shit
NOPE
Seller is the second owner and the car legitimately only had 128k on it
How's the engine?
Doesn't run of course but we figured out that was just a fuel pump problem
Wheels?
Compression on all cylinders tested within 10 PSI of brand new
So you bought it
Tires are holding air and have good tread but will need replacement soonish
Got it down to $300
All the lights and electronics are fine EXCEPT the fuel pump, and I tested the wiring to the pump and it's all fine
Nice
It wouldn't even crank when we first got there, even with a brand new battery - fixed that by scraping all the corrosion off of the battery cables
Probably could flip it for $1000 if I wanted, but one of my friends needs a car
Sounds like a driver once you get the issues sorted.
Definitely
Legendary bloke for helping a mate
Just pop out the back seat cushion and unbolt a cover
It means he's not driving a POS Suburban with a dying transmission that pukes oil out of two of the spark plug holes
It caught fire while he was adding oil yesterday
Ask him if the suburban can become a range gong-
Nvm
Nah, it's still driveable
Oil.. out of the spark plug wells?
Oh so it ain't crispy
Yep
Make her a range queen
We're thinking cracked cylinder head
In a pushrod v8?
Yep
But... that’s not how that works
Yet that's what's happening
:thonk:
My MR2 fills its wells but that's just because I haven't replaced a leaking valve cover gasket yet
Plus it's DOHC with a separate valve cover for each cam with a gasket for each
The whole design is an oil leak waiting to happen tbh
