I drifted the mail truck once like a moron because I was running late on an uphill 90 degree turn

2019-01-06 20:55:13 UTC

Heckin gravel

2019-01-06 21:00:58 UTC

Went to look at a car from a really sketchy looking Craigslist ad last night

2019-01-06 21:02:15 UTC

It was a manual 1994 Mazda Protégé DX that supposedly had only 128k miles on it, paint was fried to shit because Texas and only one pic on the ad with no information as to whether or not it runs

2019-01-06 21:03:04 UTC

Asking price was $400 so we assumed it was guaranteed shit

2019-01-06 21:03:10 UTC

NOPE

2019-01-06 21:03:29 UTC

Seller is the second owner and the car legitimately only had 128k on it

2019-01-06 21:03:40 UTC

How's the engine?

2019-01-06 21:03:51 UTC

Doesn't run of course but we figured out that was just a fuel pump problem

2019-01-06 21:03:59 UTC

Wheels?

2019-01-06 21:04:23 UTC

Compression on all cylinders tested within 10 PSI of brand new

2019-01-06 21:04:36 UTC

So you bought it

2019-01-06 21:04:47 UTC

Tires are holding air and have good tread but will need replacement soonish

2019-01-06 21:04:56 UTC

Got it down to $300

2019-01-06 21:05:35 UTC

All the lights and electronics are fine EXCEPT the fuel pump, and I tested the wiring to the pump and it's all fine

2019-01-06 21:06:02 UTC

Nice

2019-01-06 21:06:24 UTC

It wouldn't even crank when we first got there, even with a brand new battery - fixed that by scraping all the corrosion off of the battery cables

2019-01-06 21:07:13 UTC

Probably could flip it for $1000 if I wanted, but one of my friends needs a car

2019-01-06 21:08:05 UTC

Sounds like a driver once you get the issues sorted.

2019-01-06 21:08:09 UTC

Definitely

2019-01-06 21:08:25 UTC

Fuel pump replacement is legitimately a ten minute job tops

2019-01-06 21:09:01 UTC

Legendary bloke for helping a mate

2019-01-06 21:09:09 UTC

Just pop out the back seat cushion and unbolt a cover

2019-01-06 21:10:01 UTC

It means he's not driving a POS Suburban with a dying transmission that pukes oil out of two of the spark plug holes

2019-01-06 21:11:07 UTC

It caught fire while he was adding oil yesterday

2019-01-06 21:11:20 UTC

Ask him if the suburban can become a range gong-

2019-01-06 21:11:24 UTC

Nvm

2019-01-06 21:11:37 UTC

Nah, it's still driveable

2019-01-06 21:11:44 UTC

Oil.. out of the spark plug wells?

2019-01-06 21:11:48 UTC

Oh so it ain't crispy

2019-01-06 21:11:49 UTC

Yep

2019-01-06 21:12:02 UTC

Make her a range queen

2019-01-06 21:12:03 UTC

We're thinking cracked cylinder head

2019-01-06 21:12:05 UTC

In a pushrod v8?

2019-01-06 21:12:09 UTC

Yep

2019-01-06 21:12:47 UTC

But... that’s not how that works

2019-01-06 21:12:56 UTC

Yet that's what's happening

2019-01-06 21:13:12 UTC

:thonk:

2019-01-06 21:13:32 UTC

My MR2 fills its wells but that's just because I haven't replaced a leaking valve cover gasket yet

2019-01-06 21:14:17 UTC

Plus it's DOHC with a separate valve cover for each cam with a gasket for each

2019-01-06 21:14:40 UTC

The whole design is an oil leak waiting to happen tbh
