Ancient temples were built to reflect the order and measure of the cosmos and unite the starry heavens with human life on Earth
Cathedrals were built for their special acoustics and resonance in church choral music
And skyscrapers are built, why?
gdp
Correct
efficient use of space
Gratify human achievement as well
Most efficient use of space
land is expensive
Most utility
so
People feel powerful when they work at the top level of a skyscraper
when u buy land, u kinda buy all the air space above it
Most money squeezed out of the people who work there
but most of that u cant use unless u build a jewscraper
Skyscrapers do bestow feelings of power onto their users esp Art Deco
Yes
Grandeur
Yup
CEO usually sits on higher floors
Ceo sits at the top level
Skyscrapers are the modern version of "temple architecture"
Instead of high priests we have the CEO and the chairman
I do think skyscrapers are good for that reason
Human society stays fundamentally the same
the CEO and the Chairman actually produce though goy
Just the outer form changes
produces material
It’s a symbol of continuity and constancy and human achievement that’s important
the priest produces mental comfort
Depends on the time and the society
we have replaced most of that with consoooooooooooooom
Also, most people who work in skyscrapers don't really produce anything
consoom the mental troubles away
I don’t think it’s incisive or original to say consumption has replaced religion
Unless you count moving money around and printing reports "production"
It competes for our attention
well
its winning pretty heavily
It’s clutter
