kinda boring
well they had a small class of citizens with all the power and the rest of the people were basically slaves
I'd kind of doubt it. Most utopias i imagine have medicine
and a handful of women held most of the money and power
impossible, women were always oppressed until obama was elected
the spartans weren't big on breeding outside their class so their numbers diminished over time
still seems interesting though
sparta was weird
they had 2 kings at a time
lot less violent than dying to a regressive left at least
and they didn't hold total power but they weren't figure heads either
there was like a council of elders
sounds like a decent system
great channel by the way
maybe could be a thing today, but with machines instead of slaves
it's weird how he can get so much personality into little coloured squares
the slaves (Helots) were the natives there, the Spartans were invaders
and they made sure to never forget that
they were vastly out numbered by the Helots and kept a mindset of eternal vigilance over them in case they rebelled
his videos on Caesar are definitely worth watching
a bit sad they're over now, maybe he'll move on to cover Antony and Octavian
i hate Euro or Med history...
what? it's the best history
i had a time when i was really into it back in highschool, but i had real bad teachers
they had an event called the Defenestrations of Prague
all about fuckers being thrown out windows
🤷
the Hellenic and Roman eras are very interesting
especially the late republic
it's crazy that Spartacus, Cleopatra, Caesar were all contemparies
i know japan
thats all i got
best Japanese era?
everything pre coming here is being over written
I think the Tokugawas were interesting
Japanese is at least better than Chinese history
I find it laughable that the Art of War was written by a Chinese man, they suck at war
got their asses kicked by the Mongols, the Japanese, the Vietnamese, the Indians, the British, the Xiongnu
