TL;DR: If you're in a squadron, you get activity points. These basically just used to be for show, but now you can actually start researching vehicles with them. A British Firecrest, the US M901 ITV, and the Soviet SKR Pr.35.

The more active your squadron, the more points go towards researching these vics.
