but the netcode is absolute shite
IIRC CryEngine is like fucking impossible to fully learn, let alone master
it's why RSI had to switch star citizen over from cryengine to amazon's heavily souped up version of cryengine for star citizen
because the netcode just couldn't support a persistant universe
Yeah
plus patching was a nightmare
It's really meant for single-player games
cryengine only supports micropatches
if you wanna add more content
And it's REALLY FUCKING GOOD at single player stuff
lmao you have to redownload the entire game
which is another reason why RSI did the switch
SC's patches are actually
patches
Yeah I dunno why the fuck they even started with CryEngine for SC
instead of the entire game reworked
Like that seems absolutely rarted
recompiled I should say
it was
it really was
the reason that chris chose cryengine was cause it was pretty
That's the Amazon engine
yeah that's the name of the engine
it's essentially a heavily modified and upgraded version of cryengine 3(?)
Amazon is starting to resemble Google
>starting
they both compete for datacenter customers
In the "this is a neat idea that literally no one wants" category
they're both content providers now
Aws has so many abandoned ideas
Can we just talk about an absolute unsung hero og engines
quake?
Doom?
Frostbite.
>frostbite
lol no
NEGRO BFBC2 WAS MADE ON FROSTBITE SUCK MY WHOLE DICK
eternally condemned to make microtransactionfield
at 30fps :^)
Unironically though, it made BF: Bad Company and that redeems it in my book.
