And their fusion weapons are definitely better than Imperial 40k-era meltas, but not the 30k Dark Age meltas.

there arnt any rules for 30k ad mech in 40k

those indexes meerly updated the ruled for things that had them in 7th

Fires of Cyraxis is likely the first proper imperial armor for 8th edition, and it's supposed to bring 30k ad mech, Custodes, and update space marines, and T'au stuff
