Gonna buy a Makarov, what should I look for?

2018-09-15 07:19:40 UTC

Baikal ij70

2018-09-15 07:43:46 UTC

Any particular reason?

2018-09-15 07:46:06 UTC

Also, good price range?

2018-09-15 11:22:01 UTC

Just remember its milsurp even if is "new", so treat it like buying a used gun. Inspect the condition of barrel, blued finish, rust on internal parts carefully $250-400

2018-09-15 11:22:38 UTC

The Russian and east german ones have the best manufacturing quality

2018-09-15 11:23:12 UTC

But imo polish Radom p64 is fine too especially considering the difference in price as they are still surplused.

2018-09-15 11:44:02 UTC

Maybe he suggests the Baikal one as they made a .380ACP export model that was imported to the US for a while. So you dont have to mail order ammo.

2018-09-15 17:44:40 UTC

I'm not entirely sure what that is to be honest

2018-09-15 17:44:48 UTC

Unless it's an svt...

2018-09-15 17:44:57 UTC

Are you fucking retarded

2018-09-15 17:45:25 UTC

It’s a chromed (for some reason) VZ 52

2018-09-15 17:45:31 UTC

Might be a 52/57

2018-09-15 17:46:18 UTC

I'm not terribly well versed in Czech arms

2018-09-15 17:46:28 UTC

So yes I am retarded what of it

2018-09-15 17:47:02 UTC

Plenty of people have made “not an AK” (Czechia included)

2018-09-15 17:47:11 UTC

Very few have made “Not an SKS”

2018-09-15 17:47:31 UTC

The vz52 uses an entirely proprietary bolt and gas system

2018-09-15 17:47:49 UTC

It has nothing to do with the sks minus being later converted to it's caliber

2018-09-15 17:48:18 UTC

It resembles a gewehr semi in overall format

2018-09-15 17:48:38 UTC

But the front tilting bolt and concentric gas piston are exclusively czech

2018-09-15 17:49:13 UTC

It does however have a garand style safety and German inspired sight.

2018-09-15 17:50:17 UTC

Right so it's a Czech semi-auto rifle that is contemporary with the Garand, G43, and SVT

2018-09-15 17:50:59 UTC

It has oddly futuristic gas system but yes

2018-09-15 17:51:31 UTC

The VZ is unique in that it has an incredibly smooth and robust gas system, and being entirely concentric around the barrel, the barrel is the piston guide

2018-09-15 17:51:46 UTC

As well as zero tilt or rotation

2018-09-15 17:52:45 UTC

Huh

2018-09-15 17:58:50 UTC

It’s not really comparable to the SVT or Garand

2018-09-15 17:58:59 UTC

It’s in an intermediate calibre

2018-09-15 17:59:07 UTC

Hence “not an SKS”

2018-09-15 17:59:24 UTC

I don’t mean it’s a clone or copy, rather that it’s a ten-round intermediate carbine with a folding bayonet

2018-09-15 17:59:42 UTC

What caliber?

2018-09-15 17:59:49 UTC

7.62x45 in original 52 configuration and then x39 in 52/57

2018-09-15 18:06:06 UTC

I hadn't heard of that Cartridge
